Q:Can you install this tile over an existing 9"x9" asbestos tile floor, with out any additional prep work besides washing the existing fllor?

Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. Installing over asbestos is possible with the proper preparation. Preparing the area is necessary to ensure the new floor covering bonds well. Also, the current flooring must be level and in good condition. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

    Trafficmaster tile
Tile was easy to install and seemed like good quality but I was dismayed to see one piece peeled at the corner. I glued it so will see if it works

      Scrates and scuffs
Easy to apply unfortunately it scuffs and scratches very easily. My dog and children have scuffed the floor and it's not even been a week since we laid it.

        Mark's up easy
Very disappointed. Opened a box and found 3 like patterns. Second box must have been a return item because it contained wrong tile and box was taped. Third box was a completely different pattern. Had to use for baseboard ends. The floor gets marked up, gouged with very little effort. My rolling shark vacuum left Mark's on the floor. At $1.99 per 12 x 12 I would not expect that. Now I am stuck with them.

Large Desk Floor Mat Made with Tiles
I used the tiles to construct two large desk floor mats. I work at my home office one-half a day each day. The room is carpet and I use floor mats to be able to move my office chair about quickly. Previously "Plastic" floor mats wore out in about a year by cracking. Plastic mats are also expensive. I often paid about $100 for a single mat. So, I constructed my own mats. I placed 32 tiles on an 8-foot by 4-foot brown fiberboard base. The process is described by several You Tube videos. That's where I got the idea. So far, my new mats, I made two, are looking and working well.

          Happy tiler
I live in a house with cement floors and 1970s ugly yellow tile and I decided to do this job. And I absolutely love it I wake up every morning and get up and have a smile on my face looking at the floors and I can't be more ecstatic about having my floors redone. And I did the floors by myself.

          Trafficmaster tiles
I used the self-sticking tiles to re-tile stairs leading to my basement. As recommended, I cleaned and treated the existing surfaces with the suggested primer, let it dry, and set the tiles. The self-sticking tiles do not adhere well. At all. I set the tiles, applied pressure and, after a day or two, they simply come off. Today is day 4 after install, and the attached picture shows the tiles that popped off to greet me this morning as I went downstairs. Looks like I’ll nail them. Ugh. Crap.

Response from Armstrong FlooringApr 15, 2022
Thank you for taking the time to post a review of our product. We are sorry to hear that you are having an issue with this flooring. If the tile was properly acclimated and installed over a clean, flat, smooth subfloor, and the tile was rolled after installation it should be sticking to the subfloor. If the flooring is peeling up in spots, you can warm the tile with a hair dryer to reactivate the adhesive and put some weight over the tile to hold it down until dry. If this does not work, we recommend having the store where the flooring was purchased file a claim on your behalf. Again, I do apologize for any inconvenience. Have a great day. Armstrong

            Electric scooter damage
Great product but does not hold up to malfunctioning electric scooters.
