Why isn't the flooring sitting flush on the top
    ByJul 31, 2026
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

If your Breaksea Island flooring is not sitting flush, the subfloor may be uneven or the click-lock joints may not be fully engaged. MSI requires the subfloor to be clean, dry, and flat within 1/8 inch over 6 feet. High or low spots can prevent the planks from locking together properly and may cause raised edges or visible gaps. Inspect the locking joints for debris or damage, correct any uneven areas, and reinstall the affected planks according to the installation instructions. Good luck with your project!

Do I need to use additional underlayment with this Vinyl planks?
      ByJul 20, 2026
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Yes, additional underlayment may be used, especially when installing over concrete for moisture protection. MSI generally allows and often recommends approved underlayments, such as AbaTec [Internet # 310145273] for rigid core flooring, to help improve comfort, sound absorption, and overall floor performance. Good luck with your project!

Love the color and product is easy to work with I just don’t like how easily it was broken when putting together. Not that noticeable but still a little disappointing I guess next time we have to hire professionals to do the job hahaha but overall it looks nice on my floors

These floors were not great. First of all, my order was delayed 2 weeks, when I contacted support I was just told the order was lost and they would update me when they had more information. I didn't get an update from Home Depot at all, just the delivery company calling to make sure they could drop the floors off the next morning. While most pieces were fine we received 2 boxes that had broken edges (we were thankfully able to use some for shorter rows) and 1 box that was the complete wrong color, so now we have to wait AGAIN to get that box replaced because we are exactly 1 box short now. Most of the pieces lock together fine, but there were still enough pieces to be annoying that simply just didn't work together. This floor is very prone to the short edges popping up and creasing while installing if you aren't perfectly aligned. They eventually lock into place, but cosmetically, you can tell. Spend the extra money on better floors if you can.

                DONOT purchase this trash
If there's one thing I've learned through this home renovation journey, it's that nothing ever goes exactly as planned. It all started with remodeling my kitchen. Then we decided to tackle the family room and bathroom. We installed the same flooring in all three rooms, and I absolutely loved it. The house was finally starting to come together, so we decided to order enough flooring to complete three more rooms. That's when the nightmare began. The first order arrived damaged and completely unusable. We returned it, and the store reordered it. The second order arrived damaged as well. Then came a third order—and once again, it was damaged. After months of delays and frustration, I finally received a call saying the flooring had arrived in good condition. I was excited and hopeful that this ordeal was finally over. I brought it home, opened the boxes, and immediately realized it wasn't the same flooring I had originally purchased. The quality was nowhere near the same. It looked different, felt cheaper, and appeared to be an inferior product being passed off as the original flooring I had fallen in love with. After investing so much time, money, and effort into this renovation, it was incredibly disappointing. I contacted corporate to explain the situation. To their credit, they offered me a higher-priced flooring option for the same price as a resolution. Unfortunately, when I attempted to move forward with that solution, Home Depot would not honor the offer that corporate had made. I found myself right back where I started—stuck in the middle, with no resolution and no accountability. What should have been an exciting project has turned into months of stress, disappointment, and endless frustration. I wanted this house to become the home I envisioned, but instead I've spent more time dealing with damaged products, inconsistent quality, and broken promises than actually enjoying the renovation process. Sometimes it's not the physical work that wears you out—it's constantly having to fight for what you've already paid for. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this process or the way this situation was handled. Customers deserve better communication, better quality control, and for promises made by corporate to actually be honored.

It's just cheap. You get what you pay for.
I bought a bunch of this flooring and Installed in my office, a converted bedroom. It fell apart due to wear within 3 months. The issue is the click lock joint. It's so thin - literally paper thin - that it doesn't hold anything and falls apart easily. The top layers ended up peeling up and the damage spread quickly to the neighboring slats. It is about the minimum required to actually complete a job and since the installation is the expensive and hard part, get a better material to expend your time on. You are saving nothing with this. If you don't want to listen, I have 21 boxes. Cheap! They may end up in a landfill. I won't install them.

                    Do not buy!
I bought this to install in the landing of a basement staircase. I only needed two boxes. Both boxes had damaged planks and have been extremely challenging to install. The planks are not laying flat and “clicking” into place due to pieces of the interlocking material being damaged. I returned one box and I’m waiting on the second box to arrive because I already started the project. I’ve installed several LVP floors in the past and this is the worst!
