A:  Hi Stacy, As this is a water-based product, it is not recommended for use on unsealed/unfinished flooring because it can soak into cracks/crevices and cause lifting/swelling of the wood. A:  I’m not sure but I just used all over my wood floors to remove what appeared to be scratched floors but was just layers of scratched wax from past years. My floors look new and shiny without adding any product. I will never use floor polish again.

                    Worked like magic
We purchased an older house that has laminate floors. They had cats and used some type of wax product, the floors were awful. We tried everything, at first we weren't, sure what was on them but it was thick, dirty and needed help. I decided to order Trewax wax remover. Although we still had to get on our hands and knees to get the wax up and rinse the floors overall it was easy. I used a garden sprayer with a 50/50 mix and sprayed a small section, waited a few minutes then used a scrubber on a pole and watched it disolve! The floors look like new. ( my wife and I did a 1500 sq.st. House in one long day) PBraun

This product works excellent on prefinished hardwood floors. (We had a nasty buildup of product that was specifically made to keep the shine on prefinished hardwood floors.) I used a 2" stiff brush with about a ten inch handle to scrub off the buildup after letting the product sit for about 3-5 minutes. I worked on a 3' square each time and rinsed with clean water after each section. Unbelievable results! I found nothing else that would take off wax, dirt or cleaner build-up when looking online or in multiple stores. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. One gallon cleaned/stripped a 23' x 17' floor. We were so pleased with the results! Not kidding....if you have a buildup problem on a prefinished hardwood floor....look no further, this product will do the trick. We have before and after pictures that would shock you!

I think this is only the second time in my life that I have bothered to write a product review, but I couldn't let this one go without sharing my experience in hopes it helps others who are in the same situation I was. If you are looking for a product to remove wax build-up from laminate wood floors without damaging them, this is ABSOLUTELY the product you are looking for. I am in the process of getting my house ready to put on the market, and I had 12+ years of wax build-up with scratch marks everywhere from my dog. I thought the only solution was going to be replacing the floors at a cost of over $6000, so I figured it was worth a shot at trying to salvage the floors to save that money. After reading the other reviews, I ordered 2 gallons of this Trewax Instant Wax Remover (which was more than enough for about 300 square feet of area that needed to be treated, even with as much as I had to use...see below). All I can say is WOW! This product worked exactly as I had hoped and save me over $6000, and it didn't damage the floor or wood finish in any way. Now, if you are going to go this route, get ready for several days of manual labor and a sore body. To strip the wax completely from about 300 square feet (the wood floor is bigger, but some areas are covered with rugs and never got waxed), it took me 22 hours on my hands and knees. I mixed the wax remover and hot water in equal parts (50/50) in a spray bottle, then sprayed a small enough area at a time that I could reach every part of it and waited until the wax build-up started turning white. The wax was so thick it took 5-6 rounds of applying the wax remover, then scraping with a putty knife, wiping clean with a wet rag, and then finally wiping at the end with a dry rag. My advice is to use a plastic putty knife and take your time. I used a metal putty knife and caused several scrapes and gouges that I had to fix later with wood glue and touch-up pens. Also, I would double-bag a couple of plastic grocery sacks and put some paper towels in the bottom as a place to deposit all of the wax you scrape up. I was shocked at how much wax build-up there was and how dirty the floor had become over the years. Lastly, be sure to have a firm pillow to kneel on, and be sure to wear heavy-duty rubber gloves. It looks like I have a brand new floor now, and I still have an extra $6000 in the bank! Before and after picture attached. Hope this was helpful!

Thank you so much for this response. We get calls all the time about this exact situation. I am glad that you were able to attache pictures for individuals to see your floors. Stripping any floor is not an easy task it takes time, patience, and a lot of elbow grease. Thanks again the Beaumont Team.

Hello, I wrote a review on September 16 2016, I was unable to attach pictures, I'm going to try and attach pictures again, this is my review in Sep 2016. I am so happy to report that Trewax works!! I used the full strength, lots of paper towels, a spackle knife, the plastic one from home Depot, Dawn dish washing soap, a mop, and a pillow for your knees, use the spackle very gentle to scrap the wax up, it comes up very easy, its a lot of work, all worth it. I suggest that you do small sections, do not use on unsealed wood floors, it works great on Bruce presealed floors with the protective coating already on the wood, PLEASE read direction.

This product really works better than I thought it would. I was absolutely amazed at how my floors looked like when I was finished stripping them. The old wax came off easily and the beautiful, new like flooring was revealed! So impressed!!!

Hard work but well worth it! Works Great!
I did a lot of online research as to what was wrong with my wood floors. The thing that kept standing out was the use of Orange Glow wood floor cleaners. I used it for years. Over time the dirty wax build up was unbelievable. The high traffic areas were the worst, but we were determined. We ended up putting the Trewax in a squirt bottle straight. We left it on approx. 5 minutes, and then used a 2 inch putty knife and scraped it off. It did not touch or hurt the finish on the floor. I could not believe the amount of black gunk that was coming off the floor. I used paper towels to pick up the gunk and then cleaned with towels and warm water. We had to repeat all that, but after the 2nd application it all came off. The floor looks 1000 times better. So worth the hard work. We are 61 and 58. If we can do it most people can.

                        This Product is Excellent
I have to say this product helped us save thousands of dollars, as we had estimates to refinish our wood floors in excess of $2500.00. It is so easy to use we bought 2 gallons of wax remover for approx 650 sq ft of hardwoods. I would recommend diluting 1 part solution and 1 part water in a spray bottle and we use a windshield ice scraper and it took all the wax buildup for 6 yrs of mop and glow wax in one easy step. I agree a lot of hard tedious labor but well worth the results. We did a 2 ft by 2 ft area at a time..
