what are the interior dimensions of the post? Will a 4x4 fit inside nice and snug?

AnswersFirst, I'm not sure of the interior dimensions. However having a vinyl fence installed at my house I can say that the thickness of the vinyl post is between 1/8" and 3/16" thick. So the interior dimensions are some here between 4 5/8" and 4 3/4" inside in each direction. A standard 4" x 4" post is actually 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" so there will be at least a 9/16" to 5/8" gap between the wooden 4x4 and the vinyl post. So the wood 4x4, in my opinion will not be snug inside the vinyl post.

Would I recommend this product? Yes, and also NO. The item description doesn't say how large the openings are in anyway, shape or form. If you intuitively know how large they are, then obviously these posts are for you and you have come to the right place. For the record, the openings are 2 inches by 3-1/2 inches. The fence posts themselves seem to be VERY durable. I returned this order, and then reordered just blank posts with a 2 week delay, I then just routed the correct sized holes I needed. The fence I completed is shown. The Veranda blank posts I purchased I routed with 1-1/2 inch by 5-1/2 inch openings.

so far so good
as a person who is not a contractor, i didn't know that some sort of interior post is required to bolster this thing against wind. luckily someone told me and i had some wood posts i was replacing. for the price, i'd think that it should be able to stand on its own. but it looks nice and is holding up so far. the post top was extra.
