Questions & Answers

Are these rocks(pebbles) fire resistant?

Asked by: Frank
They are basically smooth river rocks which depending on the amount of heat you generate could possibly crack. I'm no geologist but to use them to surround a campfire I would say they are too small, too use in an outdoor fire place maybe ok but I wouldn't use them as decorative stone (glass rocks) as they have no decorative feature or function to let a propane flame come through. Sorry can't be more help but not sure how much heat you are generating or how you want to use them.

I was looking for pebbles to put in a fish pond project I’m working on. Would this be safe to use inside the fish pond?

Asked by: Kaka
Yes I would think so. They are very smooth hard rocks like river rock, so nothing about them would make you think they would break down over time and be harmful to fish. I would have no problem putting them in a fish pond, and I have had a fish pond in the past. Just hose them down really good first to rinse off any sediment they may have in the bag if any. You should be fine I would think.

I bought 10 bags of these and only one bag was the gray color advertised. The rest were much lighter. Covered in sand possibly. I washed them with a hose but once they dried they were back to the very light color. Anyone else have the same experience
Asked by: Jay
Yes, but if you only had one bag that was lighter, consider yourself lucky-you got 9 that were correct.

These rocks are a lovely shade of gray, pretty clean and in a size/weight that old Cobra can carry about without the assistance of one of those brutally kind store associates who are trained to recognize that you are ancient and therefore cannot function without them. That is not a complaint, they are terrific folks here and they do take no thank you for an answer. But I digress, back to the rocks. They are easy to work with and after a rain, any lingering dust is washed away and they look marvelous darling.

Random sizes, but nothing larger than the size of my palm; also many smaller pieces to fill the gaps; some flat, some rounded ... I used these in-between bluestone pavers on a walkway area. Great look and awesome for drainage. The color is extremely consistent.

Beach pebbles, really rocks, are all smooth, well-formed, and color is consistent throughout. When compared to other stones/rocks/chips, etc, by weight only, they are exorbitantly expensive. However, they provide a lovely accent when arranged in a landscaping pattern.
