Poorly Baled
I have purchased about 20 bales of Vigoro and about as many off the tractor-trailer at Home Depot. Vigoro are cleaner but the needles are literally crushed and bent as they are baled so don't spread naturally like long needle pine should. For the price the loose bales on the truck are the better value until Vigoro improves it's quality control.

Lots of debris in latest purchases
The first 20 or so bales we bought were fine. The last 7 we bought (with 3 more we haven't opened) have been in bad shape with sticks, pine cones and other debris. We thought we were onto something, but now we can't trust the quality - and these are NOT inexpensive.

      Not the Same Quality
I used this product in the past and was happy that it was brigth clean and smelled good. I bought 15 bailes and this latest batch was dirty, moldy and breaking down already. It was no better than the bailed pine on the tailer trucks.

        Too much garbage
I spent over an hour sifting out all the garbage from the poor quality pine straw from one bag. Not looking forward to going thru the other 14. I don’t know if the fault is with Home Depot for selling pine straw that has decomposed to the point that it’s about 10% bits of pine straw, but I’ll never buy this again.

Not what it use to be
I have a 80'x 20' slop in the back and to put mulch down at the minimum depth cast about $900 for bulk delivery. a few years ago, I switched to bailed pine needles from the HD trailer and was able to get it covered for $140. it was a bit dirty and a lot of sticks and cones but overall, the price was better and overtime natural organic matter... A few years ago, I switched to the vigoro bagged pine needle because they are long leaf, maintained the color and claimed to be cleaner than bailed pine needle. my first two purchases were just that clean bright and smelled good. this year, not the case out of 15 bags most were full of leaves, sticks and dust. Very disappointed in the quality of this batch. The vendor may have switched to a cheaper collection company. these look like they took the trailer bulk pine needle and bagged them as clean long leaf.

            Full of Sticks
The quality of Vigoro Long Leaf Pine Straw has hit rock bottom. I shop at Home Depot and generally am satisfied. And Vigoro is the only choice for pine straw, unless you want to wait around 20 minutes for the guys in the trucks to pull it together. Vigoro has had its problems with debris in the past, but over the past year ... wow, it's just full of trash. Today, I just had to sit down and send this photo. It shows the sticks from a couple of handfuls. It may be hard ro find workers - People! Train your new employees! Reinstitute quality control checks! Pay people enough that they want to do good work to keep their jobs! And if you don't want to (or "can't") do that, the managers can start getting their hands dirty and do the work properly.

              Its not clean Straw, period
This is the second time I purchased this product. Never again! Full of leaves, sticks, pine cones, horrible! I bought 12 bales and the last one I opened happened to be at my front door and it was the worse. I had to go to another reputable lawn & garden store and buy some better pine straw to put over it.

                It's total garbage
Completely full of debris, large chunks of sticks, lots of dead leaves, large pinecones and bits of styrofoam. Save yourself the headache from the weeds and oines saplings that will grow out of this trash.

                  Pine straw
Picked up 10 bags of Vigoro Thursday and will pick up another 10. Best pine straw I’ve ever used. Very few sticks, beautiful color and it smells great too. I found if I pulled straw apart and put in a container, it was much easier for me to transport. I’m 72 and female and the bales were a little heavy after a few trips. I highly recommend the Vigoro bagged pine straw.

                    Ignore the grumpy people
This stuff is solid. Point blank. Ordered 8 bags and found the occasional stick / pine cone. Yes it spreads 2x as mentioned and is high quality. Will be buying again no question
