          Great Budget Sander
This WEN sander is a great option if you need a belt sander for just a few projects, and aren't planning on using it on a daily basis. The fixed speed 7A motor is powerful enough that it doesn't bog down significantly, and the 820 ft/min sanding rate removes material fairly quickly. The tracking knob is really easy to use, and the tool free belt change lever is really convenient. It's almost no effort at all to remove an old belt and slap a new one on. The sander form factor is pretty typical for belt sanders, but the chassis looks to be primarily plastic, although the drive sprockets and components are metal. The contact plate on the bottom is a little smaller than other similar models, and there's also quite a gap between the front and back rollers and the contact plate, so it takes a bit of forward pressure to get the nose of the sander to remove material. The sander can do a fairly good job of getting into corners though, since the right side is flush with the edge of the sanding belt, and the front end roller sticks out as far as the edge of the cover. Dust collection is passable, with between 50-75% collected on the test runs that I did. However, the big detractor is that the sander can't be connected to a shop vac for better dust collection. The dust port is an odd rounded rectangular opening, which would require a custom adapter or liberal use of duct tape to attach a vacuum to. Despite a few minor complaints, this sander is a great value for its price point - coming in well below the cost of the other competition I researched.

          Performs Well
The WEN 7-Amp 3 in. x 21 in. Corded Belt Sander with Dust Bag performed well during my project. The motor produced plenty of power and the included belt produced good results. While the included dust bag did capture some dust, I found much more dust on the surrounding table surface and all over the tool. The dust port is a unique shape so you cannot attach round dust collection hoses to this product. The tool less belt change mechanism is awesome. A simple lever loosens up the assembly and the belt slides right out. The drive wheel has directional arrows on it so it is easy to figure out which way to install the new belt. The adjuster mechanism for the belt is sensitive but works great. Once a belt is installed you need to run the sander and make sure the belt tracks straight. If it starts moving to one side or the other you turn the adjustment mechanism until the belt is in the right location and does not drift. I found very small adjustments were required or the belt would drift the opposite direction.

Decent sander with one glaring problem
Been using the sander to remove decades of paint from a house I just bought. The sander removes material well enough (especially for the price) but the fact that the sander won’t attach to my shop vac is a huge design mistake and a deal breaker for me (why would they make the attachment rectangular??) I’m trying to limit dust as much as possible because some of the paint I’m removing contains lead and the supplied dust bag definitely doesn’t cut it. If you’re going to use this sander outdoors only it might not be a huge issue. I have a number of wen tools in my shop and most of the perform adequately, but this one is gonna be replaced by something else asap

Pros: cheap, strong motor, the small dust bag will pack in the dust, does the job. Cons: mostly cheap plastic, small dust bag, sometimes the sanding belt is hard to keep tracking, the continuous ON bottom is somewhat difficult to engage, I question its longevity.

It slices! It dices! No, but it sands very well!
The sander felt good in my hands. I bought it for sanding larger pieces of wood. I tried it out on a shelf for a TV stand, and it worked well to remove the "production marks" and smooth the surface. The belt wandered a little when I started using the sander, but a couple turns of the tracking knob solved that problem. All in all, it's a very good sander for the money.

I have owned other more expensive brands that weren’t any better than this one. I like the ease of changing belts and it has more than enough power to get all of my diy projects done. I would recommend this belt sander.
