About This Product

Forget about spending money to rent a plate compactor. With a price this good and equipment this reliable, buying a compactor for the job site has never made more sense. A must have tool for anyone working on walkways, patios, paver installations, landscaping or small asphalt projects. Powerful 212cc /7 HP engine delivers 4,496 lbs. of force at 5,400 blows per minute, increasing the density of loose granular soils, gravel, sand, crushed aggregate and other mediums into a sound, level foundation. This type of foundation extends the life of your project as it reduces water seepage, swelling and expansion. Our unique swing-over handle makes it easy to maneuver around the work area even in narrow, cramped spaces. Our engine features an angled combustion chamber (for more power per displacement), a pull recoil start and a low-oil shutdown to protect the engine. Vibration isolators between the welded steel plate and the engine reduce vibration, extending the engine's life. High density foam in the handles also reduces vibration to the user. 1 Gal. fuel tank provides ample work time. Tough powder-coat finish keeps the product rust-free.

Working like it should.
Quick set up. You definitely need two people to put it places. Make sure you put good oil in it and get going. We used it with coldpatch on several street cuts. It's a really nice unit, especially for the price.

200 lbs of JUNK
Mfrng. a unit that is 200+ lbs of steel w/out option of buying wheels should have been first clue it was not built with user in mind..it ran about 50’before “vibrator heads” blew! All it did was dig in! New oil was drained and came out dirty! Its (s)crap!

Contractor - Use This Machine Weekly
I'm a contractor in Northern VA. We do 4 - 6 hardscape jobs a month. I purchased this machine 2 years ago and use it weekly on jobsites. The compactor has worked flawlessly and is very heavy duty. Engine starts on 1 pull and runs for hours with no problems. Don't believe the fake negative reviews on this site - you know it is fake when they specifically name another compactor brand as their recommendation. I own Wacker and Mikasa compactors and jumping jacks as well. This machine is less than half the price of those brands and performs exactly the same. Wen seems to be the only decent quality equipment and tools coming out of China at affordable prices. I am purchasing another one next month, so I am definitely recommending this machine.

I'm extremely disappointed with this compactor. I used it for about 30 min to compact soil, then a few days later, I used it for about an hour to compact the first layer of gravel. The next day I started it, the engine ran fine but no vibration/compaction. opened the side, the belt does not turn. The clutch engages and the engine just fights tot get the belt going, but it does not. I finally used a metal bar to move the offset weight on the bottom and that got it to move. I started it again, when I throttled up the belt started spinning again and the vibration was back. Bad news is that it was vibrating weirdly, it was going sideways. tried multiple times to run it but the same thing would happen. Finally, took the 8 large black bolts and lifted the engine up off of the red plate. Inside the plate I found a small round rubber gasket. Also the other counter weight was freely spinning around. This explains why the compactor was going sideways. Only one counter weight was actually spinning. The second one was free to rotated, the shaft wasn't spinning it. What a nightmare, I spent $750 to have a machine for my large project so I can use it many times and for may months, but it literally broke after 1.5 hours of use. The worst part is I purchased it about 6 months ago, so I'm pretty sure HD or WEN won't lift a finger to help fix this. I would sincerely hope this is a lesson to anyone thinking of buying this compactor. My suggestion is bite the bullet and get a Tomahawk compactor...

Easy to assemble. Rotate the handle up and insert two bolts. It does weigh two hundred pounds so you need to be careful moving it around. No wheels, but it slides/wiggles easily over short distances. There are four grab handles (at each corner) so you and three friends can lift it short distances. Controls are Fuel (petcock), Choke, Ignition and Throttle. It moves slowly (only) forward at full throttle. It stops at idle. The handle can be flipped around to pull it back. I spent a couple days preparing the ground. 10 minutes to compact. Another day to level. 10 minutes to compact. Installation of form boards., 10 minutes to compact. It was very nice owning it so I could use it as I went along. It was delivered on a 30 foot Bobtail Truck. This may be a concern for residential driveways. The truck driver way helpful and had a lift gate and palette jack. I thought about using a hand tamper, but am very glad I didn't.

The compactor was packaged very well and shipped quickly to the store. The staff at the store helped me load it into my pickup and off I went. I got home and slid it down some ramps to the ground as this thing is heavy. I uncrated it added oil and gas per the instructions and it started on the first pull. I have used it on a large paver project over the last several weeks and it continues to run great and start on the first pull. I ordered the pad for it as well to avoid scuffing my textured pavers and it is a great option that is easy to assemble and install. I am just an average homeowner that hates to pay someone to do something I can do myself. This compactor is a great value for someone looking to take on a project themselves without having the cost and frustration running back and forth to rent a compactor.

Starts up right away. Easy to use, gets the job done, solid construction. Keep in mind it's over 200 pounds, A little challenging to move, lift or transport by one person.
