The SUNSEEKER 10 IN. FIXED HEAD POLE SAW is not going to be a replacement for a chainsaw, and that’s not what it’s meant to be. When you use it as intended it is a fine little tool for those hard to reach limbs. There is some assembly required but it’s fairly simple. First you attach the chain to the blade, then you attach the blade (with chain on) to the end of the pole that has the bar chain oil tank by removing the black plastic cover, sliding the bar on, looping the back end of chain around the guide wheel on the pole mechanism, and pulling it straight out away from the pole while you tighten the black cover down with the bolt. Make sure the chain is on properly so the sharp edges are moving forward obviously. The chain should be tight, but with a small amount of play. But you should not be able to pull chain out enough to remove it from bar. Then open the cover to the white tank and fill it with bar chain oil, close cap securely. Depending on what you have for a weed whacker, attach it via the universal system at the end 9f the pole that has the “bolt”. Now you are ready to cut. I found the saw and pole to be quite sturdy. Solid design. It comes with an Oregon bar and chain which is a good brand and the same I use for my chainsaw. I was able to cut some very pesky 2-5 inch limbs with this. It was not very hard as long as you are physically able to hold a weed whacker overhead for a minute or less at a time. Cuts well, nice sharp blade. Uses a lot of chain oil! Nice tool though. Saved me a hassle.

For the past several years I have been using an 8" pole saw and have been pretty happy with the ease of use and the function of what is basically a miniature chain saw. My old one has taken a beating and I've definitely gone beyond the recommended duty. So it was time for a replacement. When I ordered this one all that I really noticed was that it was 10" compared to my 8" one, so I figured that was a bonus. So far I have been quite disappointed. First thing that I noticed is how the unit "jumps" around, whereas my old one lays steady on a branch and cuts smoothly. As you'd expect, the cut was ragged, which can't be very good for the tree. I also noticed that the shaft was loose in the pole and the first time I separated it from the power head the drive shaft came out. It went in and seated fine, but I've never had that happen with any of the many tools I've used before. Finally, although the shaft attached to the head is a little longer than the one on my old pole saw, my old one came with and extension shaft, making it about 30" longer overall. So, the longer saw I went after turned out not to be any bargain. I should be able to use the old extension with the new saw (if I use it), but that's and extra purchase for anyone picking this up as their first pole saw, which I don't recommend. Oh, and it doesn't come with bar & chain oil, which my old one did, so there is another extra item to purchase. Note that the picture shows the unit on my electric power head, but I also tried it on my gas power head.

This 10 INCH FIXED HEAD POLE CHAIN SAW is ok for what it is. The chain was a bit troublesome to install out of the box. The UNIVERSAL ATTACHMENT SYSTEM is easy to attach to my TORO motor. Before you use it, make shure to grease the unit and fill the small reservoir with chain oil or 30 weight oil is what I used. While trying to cut branches, the chain kept binding on me so it was difficult to use.

Okay, so my shipment came. I opened it and I knew I was in trouble. I asked my brothers to look at it. After they stopped laughing at me they explained this was only an attachment. So off they went to get everything needed and I have not seen it since. They just love it. Works well and cuts the work time down and very easy to use. Their yards look so good. Hopefully they will come and do their sister's yard. Great product.

This thing isn't particularly difficult to set up, but it came with absolutely zero instructions. Once I got it all put together, I went to try it out and the performance was pretty disappointing. After making a small cut in the branch I was trying to bring down, it started smoking like the chain was already dull. Also keep in mind that most power heads (well, the one I was using, anyhow) aren't designed to be used at the angle that a pole saw needs to be operated at. Overall, I was not impressed.

This pole saw attachment works with most string trimmer power heads. It works great with my Ryobi. The kit includes a plastic cover to protect the chain when not in use. The attachment adds about 42 inches to length of your power head. It cuts very well on branches up to 6 inches. I was surprised how easy it cuts wood. This is ideal for trimming vs using a hand pole saw.The instructions did not mention a grease fitting on the unit. Before use, be sure to fill it with your grease gun.The oil tank is to lubricate the chain. I like having this tool attachment because I don't need to use my heavy chain saw for small projects.Well worth the cost.

Thanks for the review James we really appreciate you taking the time to tell folks about your experience. As far as the grease fitting is concerned the unit is pre-lubricated so no need to repack with grease upon your first use, we recommend once a season for normal use and more frequently for heavy use. Thanks again and work safe!

Good on setup and my first use, but I have reservations. I accomplished the following in spite of the fact that the unit had no included directions: (1) attached and tensioned the bar and cutting chain (2) filled the saw reservoir with bar and chain oil (3) attached this unit to my Ryobi 40v power head (4) used it to cut up a few fallen trees and branches after a recent wind storm. Pro: The chainsaw extension attached quickly and easily to the power head. If quickly cut thru branches of oak and sassafras ranging from 1-4 inches in diameter. The unit delivered quite adequate cutting power for these tasks. Con: (1) No instructions in the box, nor directions on where to find them online. Those that I tracked down online were scattered and sparse on critical topics – for example, no direct mention of bar and chain oil (essential for the saw). (2) No combination tool – I’ve had a number of chainsaws over the years. Every single one of them (until this one) came with a combination tool designed to fit the screws, nuts and bolts on the saw. (3) No bar and chain oil – always had at least a sample with the saw to get you started. Using the saw without it will damage the saw and is risky to the operator. Dinging three stars for those omissions.

Thank you for the review Incident51 we appreciate you taking the time to tell folks about how well the pole saw performs. This unit delivers unmatched value as it is more than $30 less than anything else on the market while delivering an Oregon bar and chain as well as cut steel gears in a metal housing with grease zerks for continued long run maintenance. We will certainly take your sage advice on including more instructions to help users to better understand their new product. Again thanks for the review.
I'm not sure what to make of this item, the least expensive power polesaw I have ever seen. In many ways it is identical to the more expensive Oregon. In fact, the chain and bar are branded Oregon. I had some trouble getting it to work with my Husqvarna power head, but after some fiddling it fit on. The only instructions included are on the bag of the chain, although there is a manual listed online. I know how to set up a chainsaw. That's when I discovered that the gears inside were very tight and would barely turn. With difficulty, I pulled the chain around several times by hand, and then hooked up the motor and got it to run up to speed. After a minute, it seemed to break in and run normally, but now I wonder what is inside that gearbox. Since it's raining, I found a dry old piece of oak and hacked it up for a test, and the saw ran as expected. I have some trees to trim, so I'll post the results of that later.

Thanks for the review Nickname we certainly appreciate you taking the time to tell everyone about your experience with the Sunseeker fixed pole saw. You rightly point out that we utilize Oregon bars and chains in our saws, we do this to ensure the user gets the best possible cutting experience. Further this tool is designed to be used with Universal System trimmers. If you have a Husqvarna 128LD then this should fit without issue however Husqvarna does not use the Universal System across their entire line and may be the issue you had with getting this unit to fit. The gear box uses cut steel spur gears that can be fairly tight at first but do run in quickly. The gear box does have two grease zerks which provide the user with the opportunity to re-grease their unit as needed. Usually once a season for normal use is enough. Thanks again we truly appreciate your feedback! Please enjoy your product and work safe.
