Hello becka1203, You would use whats called a Heavy Duty Top Plate. There are a few different types. Some are used to install the lags at a 90 deg angle and other are designed to install the lags with a slight angle. Her is a link to one that has a video to show how they are installed. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Waddell-Heavy-Duty-Top-Plate-2755/100390125?keyword=Heavy+Duty+Top+Plate If the legs that you want to use do not have a 5/16" bolt in it you can add one to it. Here is a link to a hanger bolt. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-5-16-in-18-tpi-x-2-in-Coarse-Standard-Steel-Plain-Hanger-Bolt-2-Pack-809351/204273743

What hardware is required to attach it to a plywood top

Answer

You will need some type of apron or rails to create a table with these. I used mortise and tenon but you could use glue and pocket screws or dowels or biscuits. Then once you have a base you could buy table buttons or make your own out of some 1.5 by 1.5 by .75 hardwood pieces and screw into bottom of plywood and into inside of aprons.

I'm very happy with these legs, they look obtained from good quality hard wood (I think white Oak). I was in the process of building an End Table when I realized that the tapering of the legs was not so easy to do with my current tools. I bought 4 of these and picked them up at the store in after a few days. They are slightly longer then my original project but I decide to keep them longer to give to the Table a more elegant look. Overall good quality and consistent dimensions leg to leg, I would definitely recommend this product.

I ordered 6 of these legs, and found them to be very high quality. The wood was solid, not a glue up as some other reviews mentioned. The wood appeared to be oak, but was unspecified. It would be a great improvement if the wood species could be a choice, for my application it was not critical. The only other observation is that a couple legs had a bit of warping, but not bad.

I bought a set of these legs because I could not find any local hardwood that was a true 2" width. All I could find was 1.5". The closest I could come up with was 4x4s which are 3.5" and would waste two thirds of the wood. So I searched and found these. The cost would have been a little less but the savings were in the time shaping the legs. The first problem was when they came I found out that they are actually 1.5 hardwood glued/laminated to a .5 piece of similar hardwood. And the taper is on the .5 side so you can actually see where the one piece's taper ends and picks up on the underlying piece. And the two pieces are not the same grain or even the same color. This is awful. The second problem is that the 'tags' are stapled into the ends which I need exposed so I would lose an eight of an inch cutting the ends off which wouldn't be a problem is they weren't too short. The listing stated 30" but they came at 29" and I really didn't want to lose any more length. Also on the top ends of the legs they developed a couple of cracks while handling them for mortises which then required glueing. This was a problem because this is a floating Maple Slab and the top ends of the legs are chamfered and visible. The good? They are uniform size between each leg and they have a smooth edge along the taper, even over the laminate transition, and I am painting them so the issue of laminated wood and difference in color doesn't matter to me on this project. But If I were staining them they would not be acceptable.

The good: It's inexpensive. It's decent quality The Bad: It's laminated "Hardwood"; either ash or white oak. So, if you plan on staining it you'll see laminated joints along the length and even across the width. Only two of the four sides are tapered. Meaning that one corner is straight while the other three are angled. So if you're counting on an even taper that's centered - this is not.

There is an error in the description that several other people have pointed out. There is no chamfer. I was able to put a chamfer on the top of one of the corners with a sander and thus was able to put these on the base of the sewing machine table I was repairing. So all is good. The other thing is that the legs are tapered on two sides, not on all four sides and it is subtle, but noticeable on the finished project. So, pay close attention to which edge you drill or attach as you will need to take a minute to figure out which sides to have facing out.
