I have another ladder bookcase by Walker Edison, and I love it -- it's been a great addition to my living room. So I jumped at the chance to get this Walker Edison industrial modern model that features a great looking large cabinet at the bottom of the unit.
All the components are of high quality in both manufacture and appearance; the metal components have a black powder-coated finish, and I like the warm, muted colors of the rustic woodgrain -- the styling would fit in well in almost any decor.
The unit took approximately an hour to assemble -- the instructions were clear and well illustrated (especially with regard to component orientation) and everything is clearly labeled. The completed piece has very good fit and finish, and looks very high end.
There are two things I really appreciate in this Walker Edison offering -- first are the metal struts that run under the length of each shelf, giving each the sturdiness to support heavier objects like large books, ceramic works, etc.; the second thing I love is the lower cabinet, which has ample room for albums, audio accessories, et.c, and which features hidden european hinges, adding to the sleek, refined appearance of the piece.
Very pleased with this Walker Edison model -- highly recommend!

This is a very nice "assemble at home" ladder bookcase. Assembly was very easy using the clear and easy to interpret pictured instructions. It took me, by myself, about 2 hours to assemble: from opening of the box to disposing of the garbage. Assembly required a phillips head screwdriver. All other tools and hardware are included. In fact, the product included an extra piece of almost every hardware part. That is unheard of these days. (And NO, I didn't forget to assemble something) :). The shelving is sturdy and has a wall fastener to prevent fall-over in the event of an earthquake or a curious infant who likes to climb. The laminate finish is pleasant and give a pretty good feel of a real slab of wood. The door hinges have a three axis adjustment system so you can fine tune them for a perfect fit. The only negative item to mention are the stickers that are used to cover the hardware screwheads. They are simulation barnwood and are supposed to hide the hardware. I have never had success with these things sticking. They always fall off. It would be smart for the manufacturers to use a stickier glue to assure a strong stick. Otherwise these fall off or are peeled halfway off and look stupid. HIghly recommend!!

WHAT A FABULOUS PIECE OF FURNITURE! I have been looking for over two years for the right bookcase to display pictures, books and photo albums. I wanted it to blend with my TV stand since they would be next to one another while pulling the room together. The Walker Edison Reclaimed Barnwood Ladder Bookcase was exactly what I had hoped for. It features three shelves and a lower storage cabinet, the shelves are made of high-grade MDF, it is 72 inch tall. The cabinet and shelves are held up on both sides with strong painted metal supports. It arrived well-packed, with plenty of styrofoam, it weighs around 65 lbs, either two person lift or hand truck recommended. Thoroughly read instructions. We laid all the piece out before starting assembly. Each piece is labeled including the hardware packaging. It took around 1 1/2 hours to complete. The reclaimed barnwood finish is very attractive, stylish, the cabinet doors are substantial and close without slamming.
I was unsure how ladder bookcases work, but it is stunning, functional and more than excepted. I'm so pleased and would highly recommend!

Tall reclaimed barnwood bookcase is functional and attractive. This bookcase could be used anywhere in the home for books or other storage. This bookcase could even be used as a kitchen pantry to store additional cookware or food items. The lower cabinet storage space is even larger than expected and could easily hold a variety of kitchen items.
The bookcase comes with printed directions which are easy to follow and does require a screwdriver for assembly. It took my husband one hour to assemble. The door assembly also includes directions for leveling the doors which was very straightforward and worked perfectly. The bookcase could be also used without the doors if desired.
The bookcase is sturdy and straight and looks very modern. It could be used in many types of home decor. We will be using this bookcase in our media room for additional storage of games, books and other items.

This is a wonderful piece of furniture. The screws went in well and were all there. The only issue I found was that the hinges on the doors were low quality. and hang slightly askew. I have to close them at same time to get them to close properly. I think this particular item was not square, when made. Having said that...it is great shelving and a stylish addition to my home.

The Walker Edison Furniture Company....This is there 72 inch tall industrial modern reclaimed barn wood ladder bookcase. I choose this item just to give us a bit more storage space,plus of the rustic country look. As a DIY it still took me about an hour and 45 minutes to put together and adjust the door hinges. Make sure you have all your hardware and parts before assembling. The instructions are easy to read and are pretty straight forward . The quality of the shelves and storage cabinet are of good quality almost like real wood. I found the hardest part was adjusting the cup style hinges on the two doors,but finally figured it out and everything came together pretty well. The cabinet itself measures 72 inches in height by 28 inches in width by 18 inches in depth and comes with 3 heavy duty shelves. The total weight of the finished product is 63 lbs. We ended up using this piece in our great room. Not only does it looks nice it is very practical for extra storage space for any room in your home.

Poorly drilled holed
This would be a very easy build if the holes were drilled properly. Instead it takes forever and as much man power as you can imagine for each screw. I’m not a weak person at all and build things frequently, very hard to screw these.
