Q:Would this wood be suitable for constructing a sitting bench for indoor use?
by|Nov 25, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Yes, but it would be less than ideal because it won't really absorb any kind of stain or finish and would be ugly otherwise. Additionally, my experience was that they warped over time to the extreme. The product would have been unusable to me except that I cut it into smaller pieces to make stakes such that the wrping didn't matter that much.

Q:Why is this supposedly nominal 2x2 only 1.25"x1.25" when the standard requirs it to be 1.5"x1.5"?

    1 Answer

A:  On smaller products such as this, the product drying after treatment can yield something smaller.

Q:Is your 2 in. x 2 in. x 8 ft. #1 Pressure-Treated Lumber ADAT or KDAT, or is it still "wet"?
      by|Apr 25, 2021
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  It is still wet and can bow. It is treated with MCA. These tend to sit in some store for awhile so you may find them partially air-dried.

2 x 2 Pressure Treated lumber has many uses.
Used these 2 x 2s to make a gate. Had no plans to follow but knew I did not want the usual picket type look. Used 2 coats of Behr Premium solid stain and it has held up wonderfully in the Gulf Coast humidity and rain. Barb

This wood is pricey compared to a pressure-treated 2 x 4 but when you need a smaller width and don't want to rip cut with the table saw, this lumber is handy. I used it to make a basic extended trellis for my grape vine to keep it all in place. I was surprised how straight the pieces were in the store given they are pressure treated and narrow. Of the few I bought, two had slight bends. This lumber is pressure-treated so it will take a long time to rot if in contact with the ground or any other surface. It is treated with MCA - Micronized Copper Azole. It measures 1.5" x 1.5" x 96". This lumber can be painted or stained but only once it has dried out which usually takes three months or until you can splash water on it and the wood absorbs it.

I ordered 2 of the wood beams. They were not straight at all but sturdy and did the job.
