Q:I need help figuring out how to access the lightbulb to change it out
by|Nov 16, 2022

Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. You need to remove the glass globe from the light kit assembly. You need to twist the glass counterclockwise and locate the indentations on the neck of the glass and align them with the protrusions to engage the indentations and release the glass globe. Q:Can you use regular incandescent bulbs? If so what watt?
        by|Jul 25, 2021
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. The Halley ceiling fan comes with (2) medium (E26) base, 9.8 watt Omni LED light bulbs. The maximum incandescent light bulb is 40 watts per socket. The included LED's are a 60 watt incandescent equivalent so these LED's offer more light.

          Amazing
This fan looks amazing in the box. We have yet to install because my husband threw his back out. The metal bronze black, but more of a bronze dark brown. It is much lighter than the pictures and you can see the actual color in my photos. It looks very straight forward to install if you have DIY electrical skills, otherwise hire an electrician. The glass cover is white and not see through. I am excited to get this installed and have the air flowing in our office.

          Lovely and very functional fan!
The Westinghouse Halley smart ceiling fan gives my bedroom a modern look while cooling it down. It operates with various apps and comes with a remote. There is a very nice speed called “breeze speed” that randomly changes the airflow to mimic natural wind. The 44-inch fan is perfect for bedrooms or smaller rooms. The sleek design of three paddles moves the air very well. The light is dimmable, and the bulbs are included. This is a beautiful and very functional fan.

          An easy solid install.
The Westinghouse Halley 44 in. LED Indoor/Outdoor Black-Bronze Smart Ceiling Fan with Remote Control It’s easy to install. On a scale of one to 10 it is about a four. As a senior citizen and working by myself I was able to remove and install the new fan/light combo in less than an hour. What took the longest was getting the light fixture to connect to the fan body. There’s not a whole lot of room to bundle the wires between the two components. I particularly like the wider base plate that mounts to the ceiling as it gives more stability to the unit and there is absolutely no vibration. The remote is easy to use and hopefully with the bracket it will not get lost quickly.

Westinghouse Halley 44 in. LED Indoor/Outdoor Black-Bronze Smart Ceiling Fan with Remote Control
This is nice black bronze ceiling hugger fan that can be used indoors or outdoors. It can be used with a remote control or a smart phone to control direction, speeds, and lights. The installation was relatively easy compared to other ceiling fans that I have installed. It comes with 2700 K light bulbs, but I installed 4000 K bulbs. I prefer Daylight bright color rendering.

          Westinghouse 3-blade 44” Smart Ceiling Fan (ETL-ES-Halley Smart B-WH210)
Westinghouse 3-blade 44” Smart Ceiling Fan (ETL-ES-Halley Smart B-WH210). Can be used in damp locations. Comes with 4-speed selection and dimmable light remote. Capable of linking to voice commands and/or smart phone via downloadable Bond Home/Voice App. Two 60W equivalent, 9.8W, 800 lumens, soft white, dimmable LED bulbs included. My initial reaction from pictures was the fan was too fat/chubby in stature. Once installed it looks fine – most important, my wife likes it. It hugs the ceiling thus providing good clearance for flat ceilings, unless one goes to waving their hands over one’s head – 13.5” total below the ceiling, with blades at about 12.5”. The dark brown color is pleasing. I chose to use the black wood-grained side of the fan blades over the light oak. The blades work fine but seem a little flimsy/flexy; we will see how they age and if they start to sag. There is also a small, quality Westinghouse badge on the light frame portion of the fan. The fan has four speeds with the slowest speed just enough to noiselessly bath the room with air movement. The highest speed is actually propeller noisy. I doubt the fan will ever be used above the second setting. The dimmable light feature works great, and the bulbs are standard screw-in type resulting in lowest cost, easy replacement. I found the instructions to be adequate for installing and using the fan, although while including rubber washers in the parts list there is no mention of how or where to place them on the fan. Having some experience with fan installation I knew to put them on the fan blade screws. The hook on the fan mounting base, for hanging the fan motor while wiring, is a very nice feature. I have struggled wiring other fans by myself while trying to keep the fan supported – not the case with this fan! Installation can be done in about an hour if there are no mods or issues to deal with. My installation took about 3 hours, including adding a pancake box, painting around the box due to the previous light, trips to the basement for more tools, and cleanup from drilling into the hard plaster ceiling to make room for the box. I found no use in my bedroom/office installation of the fan for voice activated control, or controlling it through a smart phone. The included remote is convenient and works just fine for this. Why would I want to turn on a bedroom/office fan when I am not at home? Or flip through screens to get to an App to turn on the fan or light or change the speed? I don’t have a need or desire to be “connected” for stuff like this . . . maybe I am just too old/stubborn to get with the program? Besides, I don’t even have a smart phone. (I was curious about the “Breeze Feature” mentioned in the included literature but noted while reviewing information online that use of the Bond App could result in a $5/month charge – no thanks.) I have one beef … the fan blade housing is not concentric with the motor housing – out by 1/16” laterally – and just draws my eye when the fan is running. With a flying/aerospace background, this kind of stuff drives me nuts! At least I won’t have to look at it, and with the blades on is less noticeable. I tried flexing the two sections to align them better with no luck. It seems the motor shaft is not precisely aligned. (In fairness, I have another fan from a different maker that has a similar issue. I took that entire fan down, re-boxed it, and made an exchange for one that seemed less noticeable. I have since learned to ignore it as it isn’t going to crash.) Limited lifetime warranty to original owner. Year 1 and 2 the fan will be replaced by Westinghouse. Beyond year 2 only the motor is covered. Made in China.

          Nice remote controlled dimmable fan/light
This is a review of the Halley 44 in. LED Indoor/Outdoor black-bronze smart ceiling fan with remove control. We love the look of this fan, it has such a modern look to it. Has remote control and WIFI - smart technology technology that is very cool. Once wired, the remote is easy to use, the fan has several speeds and the LED light bulbs (2 bulbs were provided) are dimmable. The blades are actually reversible, we chose the darker color to point down as the pictures will show. This fan was a very nice fit for the 120 square foot bedroom we installed it in and the lighting was an improvement over the old fan and light. There was no need to balance the 3 fan blades, that speaks to the high quality of this fan. We found the fan to be very quiet during operation. The installation took about and hour and half from start to finish. I have installed about 2 dozen ceiling fans over the years and I always read through the instructions and familiarize myself with the process and the parts. This takes more time but does save some rework later during the install. I found the instructions were pretty good, certainly above average and this install is not really very difficult. The only snag we ran into during the installing process was with the receiver and mounting brackets removal and reconnection. We had a very hard time rotating the receiver bracket to remove it from the mounting bracket. Then we had an even harding time rotating the receiver bracket to attached to the mounting bracket to get the fan right up tight to the ceiling. I could not have got it done without the help of my Wife to help hold the fan against the ceiling. This is fan is an indoor/outdoor fan but we used it for indoor use.

This is a nice fan. Sure quiet. It was super easy to install. The remote is nice. I wish the light was a bit more of a room brightener. It is a bit more limited for spacious lighting vs the fixture I had up prior to the fan which lit the entire room. I love the look if the fans red cherry finish and the base. Good look.

This fan puts off a great breeze for the size! I had no issues installing it on my covered porch. Glad it takes bulbs (included) instead of the built-in LED that can't be replaced. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars, is I wish there was a dimming option for the light on the remote. It's very bright at night.
