          Very Disappointed
I am extremely disappointed. I really loved the design and how it looks with our small kitchen. I bought it on February 2022 and it stopped working May2022. It only worked for 3 months. It doesn’t cool anymore, and all the food went to waste. Reading all these reviews it looks like it is the beginning of many fail attempts to fix it. Hopefully, tech support can fix this.

            Poorly Made
Looks really nice but there are so many flaws. We ordered in February and received it in June. As we began to swap over the door Hinges we released the freezer component was loose and hanging down. At a closer look we realized the screw was stripped out which held it in place. Whirlpool replaced without issue a week later but found the same issue. They sent a repair man out and he advised it was not fixable due to a manufacturer defects. Whirlpool then advised they could refund our money or choose a different model. They would not send a replacement.

BUYER BEWARE - Door clearance requirement is wrong in manual
WARNING- I designed my kitchen around the 1” door clearance to wall, per the Whirlpool manual. My actual measurement is 1 3/8” so I SHOULD have plenty of room but the door will NOT open. Hits the wall at about half open. Actual measurement of the door swing at the hinge shows almost 2” is required. Where did they get the 1” from?!?! Now I have a beautiful new refrigerator and cannot open the door. Moving the wall and countertops is a non option. I’m outside the 48 hr HD return policy. Now what Whirlpool???

Hey JoeR, we recommend at least 1" clearance to ensure the unit has enough room for air flow. 4 months old and $800 compressors done for?!
I bought this new, at Home Depot. Made ice couple for couple of months, then I noticed ice clumping together. I did not know what that meant til it was too late, my food was not freezing up and I had to throw everything away. Got whirlpool tech to come look and says it’s the compressor. They are ordering new part to deliver. After tech left., freezer completely stopped being cold. A week later, now my fridge is getting warm, everything’s spoiled! Omg! Really?! Now I am currently refrigerator/freezer less again, how much is this gonna be if not covered by the one year warranty?! I’m stunned. Dissatisfied and disappointed. That’s my review.

Good size, good performance but several issues with fit and finish.
This fridge looks nice, fits neatly in the space and so far performs well - but I regret buying it for a several reasons, all having to do with fit and finish: 1. the plastic that it came wrapped in is impossible to fully remove. Its like super shrink wrapped and threads of plastic dangle out from the various seams. I tug at these threads periodically, but there are seemingly always more. 2. The shelves are just barely wide enough to stay secure. If I push a little on the interior wall i can easily cause the shelf to slip down. I may have custom glass made to address this, it's so bad. 3. the drawers (both freezer and fridge) aren't on gliders really. They kind of remind me of those cube shaped woven or cloth formed baskets that people put on open bookshelves. They slide like drawers but man is it cheap feeling. 4. Though the manual suggests otherwise, only the front legs are adjustable. That makes it impossible to get level on an uneven floor. I'm using a a couple thin boards to try and make it work - but its tough to get right. Unless tilted back at a pretty severe level, the thing just wobbles. Not really a complaint, but some advice: don't buy the more expensive version. The drink holder thing and the dropdown shelf aren't useful and you won't miss them. I removed them both which made the storage better. I wish I'd gone with GE 24in - and may switch in a few months if I can find a buyer for this one.

For a kitchen with only 24" width for a fridge, there aren't many options. Even fewer compact counter depth fridges offer an ice maker. We purchased this Whirlpool on line to replace a Summit unit that died right after the warranty expired. I'd rather make my own refrigerator than buy another Summit product. We've had the Whirlpool for 3 months and are generally satisfied. The unit has a pleasing appearance and is quiet when it runs. It's not as tall as other compact fridges like the Summit and is more stable, which could be a bonus in earthquake country. We like the freezer on the bottom, but even with the ice maker taking up about 20% of the freezer space, the freezer is a bigger than we need. We don't buy or consume that much frozen food. The pull handle design on the freezer door and drawers is inconsistent. You grab the pull handles on the freezer door and the topmost drawers in the freezer with your palm down. The other two rows of freezer drawers you grab with your palm up. It's a small thing but there's no light in the freezer, which makes for clumsy moments if you go to get something at night without turning on a light. The automatic ice maker works well and fills up quickly. If it's always full you're always pulling fresh ice cubes off the top. To avoid accumulating old ice on the bottom off the drawer, you have to periodically turn the ice maker off and back on. The switch for doing this is located inside the drawer, out of sight, and you operate it by feel. Would be better if the switch was visible with a label so you could just look and see if it's on or off. Even better, put the ice maker control on the door with a lighted indicator. The refrigerator on top could be a bit bigger, especially if the freezer was a bit smaller. This unit is fine for my wife and myself, but if you have a bigger family you might need a second fridge in the basement to hold the overflow. We buy and consume a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits, so we'd prefer more refrigerator space and a smaller freezer or perhaps if the unit was a bit taller? Unlike the freezer, the fridge top is nicely lighted with LEDs. There's a rack-like thing to hang and rapidly cool canned beverages above the topmost shelf. It doesn't take up much space, but we don't buy or consume canned beverages and it would be nice if this could be removed. The shelf configuration is a bit limited - you really only get one shelf for tall items, though the lower shelf on the door will hold a few tall items such as a 1/2 gallon of milk or a large juice bottle. The top shelf has a folding shelf that hangs underneath, but we don't find it useful. I may try to remove it altogether so we have more clearance in the shelf below. There were some minor quality issues with our unit. First, the logo was put on crooked. Hey, it's the company's NAME! You'd think it would be a point of pride to get that on straight. Other quality issues came to light after delivery. In the end, HomeDepot's local appliance manager was a big help in resolving. Whirlpool's help line, not so much. For complicated reasons, I ended up swapping the hinges from the right to the left side myself. Whirlpool designed this so you need several tools - torx and two sizes of hex bolts. Way more complicated than it needs to be. After swapping the hinges, I noticed the trim on the upper right had two holes - one was supposed to be tapped with threads, the other not. The wrong hole had been tapped when it was manufactured. Found my own bolt and tapped the correct hole. The trim piece for the corner of the upper door is not symmetrical and can't just be switched from the left side to the right side. That's when I realized I was missing a required piece. Lastly, the upper door seal had a huge gap on the left side after swapping the hinges. I called Whirlpool several times to resolve this and honestly, it was very frustrating. They insisted on sending out a new replacement unit, but it was damaged so the delivery folks took it back. Then Whirlpool claimed that I had cancelled the order. I had most certainly not! They said they'd have to take the current unit back and I'd have to re-order. I explained that would leave us without a refrigerator, but they didn't seem to care. Luckily, the appliance manager at the local HD listened, understood, and helped get things sorted. After about 2 weeks, the door seal had expanded on its own and there was no longer a gap on the left side. Since I had fixed the issue with the untapped hole myself, that left the missing trim piece and the crooked logo. I told the HD manager I wanted to keep fridge and she arranged to get parts shipped. I received and replaced the logo, still waiting on the missing plastic trim piece. But we have a working refrigerator that meets our needs. At the end of the day, this is a a good, solid product that is only tarnished by a poor customer support experience from Whirlpool. The appliance manager at my local HD? She was in our corner from the start and we give her five stars!

Superb quality without the price tag
Bought this Whirlpool to replace a fairly new Bosch fridge that stopped working. Our home has a slender fridge nook so we weren’t left with too many options. Naturally, we were a bit nervous buying sight unseen since it wasn’t in stock at our nearby Home Depot. But we needed a fridge and are now in love. One of our big learnings from our Bosch nightmare - fancy brand means no one has the equipment to fix it. 3 factors that make this fridge stand out, especially now that I can compare with a fridge almost 3x the price… [1. Sleek design] Gorgeous stainless steel surface with high quality shelving. Everything seems modular, which makes it fun to refill the fridge with groceries every time. Surprisingly efficient for a small fridge without having to play too much Tetris (beer holder is fun too). The instrument panel on the front add a nice touch without making it look like cheap plastic. [2. Effective cooling] Only took 2-3 hours from installing to get to our desired temps. Tested with thermometers, and it’s been our trusty ice box ever since. Our produce stays fresher and ice takes only a few hours to fill up. Have yet to try to the super chill function so can’t comment yet. [3. No noise] Completely silent except the occasional ice making. This fridge is powerful without showing off with loud noises. Add that to solid customer service, and you have a 5 star fridge! Had only a small issue with one of the shelves. Called Whirlpool and they immediately shipped a new one in the mail. +1 for amazing customer service!

Compressor failed after less than 2 years.
I love the small size of this fridge, and it fit perfectly into our ADU. Unfortunately, with no warning whatsoever, the fridge stopped getting cold and everything in the fridge and freezer warmed up. Less than 2 years and it's already failed. Their warranty is only for 1 year, so this is truly a $1500 disposable product. Repairs $150 for diagnosis, and then $$$$ for repair parts (nearly equal to the cost of a new fridge). Do not buy this no matter how tempting it may be.

                      Worst Refrigerator Ever
I started having problems right away. The cooling was very inconsistent, Sometimes it was working well and then for no reason would start to get warm. Then I had the board replaced. Finally, I came home one day and it had completely shut down and would not start again. Since the board had been replaced once I don't want to go through this again. Less than three years old. I have since read many negative reviews. Do not buy this product! Shame on Whirlpool!
