    Q:will this antenna run 4 tv's
    by|Dec 19, 2022
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  This is winegard's best long range antenna and very directional. It can run multiple tvs alone depending on the strength of signal reaching the antenna. Obstruction or blockage of signal will significantly impair reception. A preamplifier will boost any signal received and improve overall perfomance. We use it and are approximate 70 miles from towers.

Q:Why don’t these type of antennas have rotary motors to go with them

      Answer This Question

A:  They NEVER came with them, the last 60+ years!!!! You have to buy it, $100+, many different brands to choose from.

      by|Oct 30, 2021

A:  There isn't a specific reason for this aside from the possibility of there not being enough demand in the market for these types of antennas to be packages with rotary motors.

It is nice to see this large antenna, American made simple to assemble. A good idea to get rid of the reception of ch 2-6 as not needed here any more. This move removes all the longer elements that create all the wind load and are susceptible to breaking in Ice storms we have here in Jan and Feb. the antenna preforms very well, BUT there was a very bad flaw in someone's mind that decided to install such a flimsy, light weight coupling assembly and included 4;1 balum in a non water tight plastic box, at least they had the insight to drill a drain hole in the bottom to keep it from filling completely up with water. The BIGGEST issue with this small electronic contraption is the 4 small connections that depend on just the touch of parts together for a connection. This box connects the two antennas one VHF and one UHF, makes a kind of a match and then goes to one type F connector with the two combined signals. it is possible for the antenna to perform well on some channels and not at all on others because of a bad connection in side this "box" Before I installed my antenna I did solder these 4 connections to assure that it would not have intermittent contact here. I believe others have reported similar problems due to this badly engineered "BOX" for $1 it could have been designed different and not suffered this weakness. included photo shows these four (4) clip connectors that simply slide over bare conductors within the "box" for connections to each of the two (2) antenna functions and if there is a bad connection ( and it will happen) you could lose vhf or uhf or both.. just not a good way to make a connection that is essentially outside in the weather.. This is a weak signal antenna, designed to bring distant stations to your TV, it needs to be given special care when mounted, higher is normally better and the use of a low noise preamp most notably will make it play even better. Just the labor cost to install and make it work good is more than the antenna cost. so why put it up if you are sure it will fail, then pay to have it fixed. Fix it first. solder these four (4) connections. Should have been done at the factory.. the performance is great, at 65 miles from the Atlanta area I see 85 channels.. This antenna has no competition, Channel Master, you need to step it up..

            Not impressed
For such a large antenna, does not capture much signal. My much smaller antenna I added to the ladder of my RV picks up 30 more channels than this one.
