A:  Hello there! Thank you for your question. The Worx mulcher can use any brand line. We advise reviewing the technical specifications for both the machine and the line before purchasing the mulcher line. The line is 13" with a 0.09" line diameter.

          Great with a useless stand
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this two months now. I have quite the leaves in my quarter acre suburban yard. Anyhow the first two things you need to do with this are 1) trash the orange plastic "bag holder" ring when you open the box. it's bent beyond use and is worthless. 2) trash the metal stand if you plan to use brown yard waste bags. If Worx spend more time desigining the stand over plastering the unit with Worx logos I'd be happier. The stand is way too short for anyone who uses the brown paper yard waste bags. If you are using black/plastic bags then you're golden. But then again why would you use non-compostable plastic bags when doing yard work anyway? My county only allows brown paper bags. Which when you put under this worthless stand are too tall. Then when you try to fold them over the top ring they just tear leaving wide openings for shredded leaves to fly everywhere. I tried adding extension PVC sleeves to give it height, but even then using this with brown bags it was difficult. I ended up just placing the shredder portion into a garbage can, doing my shredding and then pouring the shredded leaves into brown bags. I'd also recommend some of those plastic leaf claws, those bad boys really make it easy loading the shredder. Shredder itself works amazingly, even with damp leaves. Every once in a while you have to turn it off and clean it out but that only makes sense. I highly encourage you wear eye protection as well- you will get pieces flying out smacking you in the face from time to time. Shreds small sticks and twigs really well too. Once your line wears out it's simple to add new line and keep moving. Overall an amazing, very helpful machine but once again the stand is garbage.

            Worx great!!!
I bought this a few months ago and really love the product. I have two complaints. One, you go through the plastic strips like butter and the base the unit sits on is two small to get anything under it. I remedied the second complaint by using a sturdy garbage can and cutting a hole in the lid to accommodate the unit. See attached. It now has a sturdier base and holds more.

Where has this been all my life. I love my Worx!
I love to garden and I love the Worx Leaf Mulcher! I have mulched over 400 CUBIC feet of mulched leaves this fall destined to become # 1 potting soil in a year or so. Presently about 200 cubic feet of mulched leaves are being used to bed my strawberry plants for this winter. I have also put a 3-4 inch cover of mulched leaves on my raised vegetable beds, to get a head start for the 2018 gardening season. The mums, and hydrangea beds are also covered in a layer of leaf mulch to protect them from Kentucky's unpredictable winters. The economical Worx Leaf Mulcher works, just don't feed too many wet leaves in at a time and cull the sticks and branches out to lengthen the time between replacing the cutting strings. Remember to use eye protection. A great Idea who's time has come! Thanks Worx!!

                This crunches leaves well.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the leaf mulcher for the first time last weekend. I liked that the leaves and small twigs would get shredded and compressed down 11:1. At first it seemed to work very well, but after the 3rd or 4th bag, the mulching slowed down considerably. Shaking the unit helped the mulcher to shred. I recognized that the cutting performance highly depended on the length of the cutting lines. I used the spare cutting lines from the package and used a spool I had for my weed wacker. I also removed the small black cutting line trimmer that seemed to block leaves and and unnecessarily trim the cutting line. The lines wore out and got shorter about every 6 bags. We ran this machine for 4 hours and filled up 75 bags of shredded leaves. I recommend this machine with a few recommendations: 1. Keep an eye on the cutting strings. Replace when mulching slows down. 2. Buy a thicker cutting string. 3. Remove big twigs or pieces of bark that clogs and quickly wears out the cutting line. 4. Use full size clear big bags. You can see when its full and you can change bags less often. If you use small bags, it will slide off the metal frame and blow leaves out. 5. Remove small metal cutting string trimmer. 6. Wear a face mask and eye protection. At first we had to use the short white pedestal because our bags were to short and would fall off the frame (see picture). It got easier when we upgraded to the bigger clear plastic bags.

LEAF BLENDER ! Okay, I was cynical about this product before I bought it... but it does the job! You do have to take some of the claims about the compaction ratio with a grain of salt.... it depends on how you pack your leaves by hand. If you just loaded bags with no compaction at all, yes you can probably get close to the 11:1 bag ratio. But if you really worked at compacting your leaves by hand, your ratio may come in at more like 5:1 or 3:1. Still, that is pretty awesome. I shredded my entire yard which could take 8-9 bags before into 2.5 bags with the shredder. Minus 1 star - it does not play well with the compostable paper bags. I ended up with a pretty much destroyed paper bag and a mess on the ground. A plastic bag would probably work better, but I did not try that.... instead I got my sewing machine out and made a reusable cloth "catcher" bag that works great (picture). When the bag is full I flip it upside down into the paper bag and just empty the contents. I will probably try to find some steel fishing leader to replace the plastic "strings".

Very loud. Goes through string fast. Very dusty. Not hard to clog if you’re too generous with what you’re putting in it. But it works. I use it to chop up hay for an elderly horse that can’t chew regular hay. It was easy to assemble. It’s easy to use. The string is easy to replace and it comes with a whole package of spare string. This would be 5 stars if it were not for the noise and dust.

Works perfectly. Large enough feeder to easily load leaves. Quickly and efficiently shreds to a perfect consistency for mulching garden beds or adding to compost pile.
