Q:I have a 2000w inverter/generator that I would like to power a concrete mixer since I have no electricity at my site. I see mixers with .2 hp , 1/4 hp and 1/3 hp. Will my 2000 watt inverter/ generator power any or all of these mixers?

        Answer This Question

A:  Yes, most definitely. 2000 Watts is equal to 2kW (kilowatts). And 1 horsepower = 0.75 or 3/4 kW. All of the conc. mixers you listed are less than half HP. In fact, you can run two of them at the same time with your 2KW genset.

A:  Hello. You should be able to at least power one of them. Not sure if it would power multiple. My advice is to hook one up at a time. How much you load into the mixers also has an effect. You should be able to tell when the generator bogs down if it is too much. I would install a surge protector so if the load is to heavy it will just pop the switch instead of damaging your equipment. Hope that helps.

Do not count on Yardmax to fix anything.
Have to amend my earlier review and downgrade my 2 rating to 1. After the mixer failed and Yardmax acknowledged the failure (see 2 rating, "Hope it does not break") and appeared to promise a fix, nothing has changed in 3 months. The job is done and the mixer is worthless to me, a piece of inoperable metal junk to be disposed of; after I hand mixed 80+ bags of Sakrete. They even failed to respond to a BBB complaint.

Dear Mike, we would like to apologize for any inconveniences you may have experienced. Our customer support team had send you the part you first requested (Pulley). It was later identified that the needed part was the motor instead, which at the moment we did not have in stock. As soon as we had it available, one of our customer representative reached out to you. We apologize for the delay in responding to your BBB complaint as it all happened around our closure period in observance of the holidays. If you have any question or you would like to discuss your issue with us in greater details, please do not hesitate to reach out at 1(847) 327-0566, then select Option 2. Thank you. YARDMAX

Nice little unit for home use
I wasn’t sure what to expect because the price is so low. But it turned out to be a pretty good little mixer. Putting it together took a couple of hours but it wasn’t too bad. My main concern was how much concrete or mortar could I mix at a time. It turned out that it handled a 60 pound bag of quickCrete concrete with no problem. It also was able to take one 80 pound mortar bag. At 80 pounds the mixer had just about all it could handle. The first day I used it it was a hot day and the motor tripped out a couple of times. But after waiting a few minutes it started right up again. I was able to pour a patio base slab and mortar in flagstones over a two week period. It took 40 bags of concrete and 20 bags of mortar. I found the best way to load it is to put the water in first and then slowly add the concrete or mortar. The instructions tell you to put the dry ingredients in first. I tried that and it took a lot longer and I had to stop the motor and mix the ingredients inside the drum with a trowel. All in all I’m quite satisfied with the unit but I gave it only four stars because it seems just a bit flimsy. I expect it will take some TLC to keep it running over the years.

              Old man's helper!!
This late 60s old man needed something to help with mixing 18 bags of cement for my basement. Have a trick back that goes out now and then , mixer is the right height for me not too high or to low , I used a 4 1/2 gallon bucket to rest the 60# bag on to shovel cement into mixer, used a small garden shovel to load . DO NOT TRY TO DUMP FULL BAG INTO MIXER ! Will clump in bottom. To empty and transfer to my location I used the 4 1/2 gallon bucket just the right height to fix under the mixer. Keep a stick close by to break up clumps if u load to fast , keep hand out if mixer!!! Used three time before I wrote this review to see what worked best for me and the mixer. Use 60# bags to save on my back but did add up to max of 80# in mixer.

Yes, it is small and compact and easily portable and would possibly work for small projects, but for anything beyond that don’t bother. I purchased this online and by looking at the picture on the top of the page was thinking that it would be a decent sized machine, but it isn’t, it is built for a child. The picture With the guys working is of the 4 cubic foot mixer not the 1.6 cubic foot mixer. Almost false advertising. I would be embarrassed to try to sell this machine as something a normal sized person could actually use. If you are doing any kind of actual projects that need concrete, spend a little more and get the bigger machine.

We are sorry to hear you weren't satisfied with your Yardmax equipment. The 1.6 cu. ft. is the smallest concrete mixer we offer, with the largest being 4.0 cu. ft. We suggest the 4.0 cu. ft. mixer for bigger projects that require large amounts of mixing. We're aware of the marketing materials being used that include the 4.0 cu. ft. mixer, however, the specifications and labeling of which product is being viewed are there.
We are currently in the process of gathering new product photos which will allow us to update the retailers site to avoid future confusion.
If there is an issue with the machine itself please let us know by calling our customer support line at, 1(847) 327-0566, then select Option 2.
              Thank you! YARDMAX

installation of arms to mix were not shaped to fit
I got this cement mixer and used instructions to put together - but the mixer arms had to be bent to fit in the mixer. I called the number provided for advice before bending and they said they do not have any support for the mixer - they only make it where I called. I'm using for a craft project and working well for that.

                Easy Assembly and Light
This was so easy to assemble and each step has a separate bubble on the parts card. I was careful to look at the assembly images to ensure I installed the bolts, washers, and nuts in the right orientation. Tools required: 10mm, 13mm, 14mm wrenches or sockets (sockets recommended), a large philips screwdriver, an extra 13mm wrench (for double-13mm bolts and nuts). Also Sugested: Grease for the drive gear and geat track, swivel points, and the drive shaft. NOTE: Make sure you fnd and install the O-ring that seals the drive shaft against water. See pictures attached. Assembly was a two-beer job.

Why rent, when you can buy. Had a small retaining wall, raised flower bed project and knew I would need to mix concrete, then mortar, at least twice. Being a 'do-it-your-selfer' I realistically thought it would probably be three, and it was. Footer to wall to cap. Not only saved cost alone to rent, but the convenience to have it on sight when I was ready for it and not have to pick up or return to the store. Now that I have it, its size makes it easy to store until I start the several other projects with which I now plan on its use, as I continue with my home and property "facelift".

Awesome. I used to mix 1 or 2 bags of concrete in a tray, for odd jobs around the house, what a pain. Today I got this baby, mixed 7 bags, right out of the tailgate of my SUV. Put 1 gallon of water in the bowl first. Tilt the bowl towards the tailgate, slide the bag to the bumper, rip it open, tilt it right inside the bowl. Mind you, no lifting required. Tilt the bow in the opposite direction. Hit the start and relax for a couple of minutes. Hit the stop. Tilt more to put on a rubber bucket. Carry to the site. I feel bad about all those times when i did it by hand. At the end, hose down the machine. Smaller than a lawn mower, I store it my basement. Until next job. What a Joy.

Little cute machine, great for homeowner/DIY. Im in a process working with my in ground pool and part of the patio. A lot easier that mixing manually. I was going to rent one for it cost $200 a week. And this machine is less than that amount. Machine can handle 100 lbs load with no problem. Finished my in ground pool bottom with concrete and patio.
