I have used this product to spot clean white carpet. Guests would wonder how I l could have white carpet. Starting in 2001, it would dissolve grease, gummy and other stains before my eyes. It removes the spot entirely without any residue remaining to attract soil and cause the spot to reappear. If your carpet is soiled overall, it will clean the spot so well it will leave light spots because the area around it is dirty. You can "blend" the clean spot until the room is cleaned later. Recently, I feel like the product is possibly weaker, as it didn't seem to work quite as fast and completely. A spot had to be cleaned a second time. Still a problem solver.

Amazing Spot Cleaner
My daughter had a stomach bug and after drinking red Gatorade, vomited from a short afternoon nap. I used this Zep Instant Spot remover and the stain was completely removed. It has been about 14 months since the stain was removed and it has never returned. Since then, I have used this to clean up dog vomit, mud, juice, and every other stain that happens for a young family of 7 with an active dog. I was so upset to see it wasn't around when I went to restock. This has helped keep my new carpet spot free and looking like new. This is definitely my best carpet cleaner and after trying several other Zep products, I am a believer in this brand and will continue to use this company's products. I wish I could upload the after picture but believe me, it looks like the carpet was never soiled.

Works well on some spots
I used this carpet cleaner on several spots and found it is effective for some and not so effective for others.
The first thing I used it on was a sweatshirt that had soy sauce spilled on it. The spot was fresh and the spot cleaner was very effective in removing the spot.
Second, I used it on a spaghetti sauce spot on the same sweatshirt. That spot was also fresh. The spot cleaner did an adequate job on the spot but you could still see a slight hint of the sauce remaining.
Lastly, I tried it on some spots on a carpet. These spots were set in and I didn't really have high hopes they would come out with the spray. The spray definitely faded the spots but I wouldn't say it removed them.
Overall, I would say if you have a fresh spot and you use this product and launder the item right away, you'll have good luck with this. For set in stains, it is not too effective.

WOW.
we have a low pile berber, and last Christmas my husband spilled a coke and didn't bother to clean it up. I discovered it after it had dried in a nice big splatter, and people had been walking on it for a few weeks, making it almost black! I tried to clean it with soap and water, but I just made it worse, spreading the stain from 12" to 30". I thought for sure i'd just have to replace it, it was so embarrassing. at the last minute, I decided to try this product, and was AMAZED at the difference after the first application. I did it a second time, and it was even better. it's not completely gone, but if you are looking, you'll miss it. the product says to "blot" but I got down there and really scrubbed and it had a great and immediate effect. The price is terrific, and it has just secured a place on "My Favorite Things 2013" list. Excellent! NOTE: pic attached, sorry I didn't think to get a "before" pic!

Worked AWESOME
Cleaned up my 3 yrs olds "sick" from light cream carpet!! Best stuff EVER! The smell is strong, so be sure to open a window!

AWESOME
My daughter got sick night before last, I didnt have any carpet cleaner, I used water the best i could, the yesterday I got the Instant Spot and Stain Remover...last night I used the product for the first time and it was AWESOME! You can not even see the the "sick" spots on the light cream carpet! Works GREAT but the smell is strong.

Does exactly what it says!
I've been struggling with stains in my off-white carpet for years, and have tried a number of products, none of which have worked...until now. Zep Instant Spot Remover really does make spots vanish. I'm pretty shocked at how easy it is to use, once you figure out how to use it. Here's what I mean:
(1) instead of spraying the spot like you would with a typical spray bottle, you push the nozzle right into the spot, and it foams up the area. Do not try to press down on the nozzle with your finger - you'll likely spray yourself with the product.
(2) wait one minute, then rub the area with a clean cloth.
(3) spray with plain water to rinse, and then rub again with the cloth.
(4) the stain is gone!
Yes, it's that simple. Given that this product is so inexpensive, I really can't say anything bad about it. Just don't plan on using it to clean large areas of a carpet. It's strictly a spot remover.
Take a look at the before and after photos of two stained areas on my off-white carpet - they had been there for years!
