Q:Does Redi-Patch have any adhesive properties? For example, used in a crack between 2 1/4" thick panels, does it have an adhesive properties that might "glue" the two panels together beyond simply filling the space?

Answer This Question

A:  Great question! Our Zinsser MH Ready Patch is not designed to bond workpieces together. The patch cures to a very hard, inflexible finish, which will crack if movement occurs. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

      Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help! If a color is desired, we recommend that you add a few drops of universal colorant into the Rust-Oleum Zinsser Ready Patch and blend in thoroughly. If you tried to stain over the top, we're afraid you're going to see the repair, and it would not blend properly. This product can also be used on plaster surfaces. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

        Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help, Tiffany! Rust-Oleum Zinsser Ready Patch Spackling & Patching Compound is designed to combine the workability of spackling paste with the strength of plaster to provide long-lasting results. It can be used on interior wood and metal surfaces. Ready Patch cures to a very hard, smooth finish and may be more difficult to sand after drying overnight. In ideal conditions, you can sand after 2 hours. For best results, apply an appropriate primer to the entire surface after spot priming patched areas. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

          Shrink alot
This product says it does not shrink. Not only does it shrink but it cracks as well. I put this product on and overnight it had cracks and shrunk tremendously. I am not impressed, especially since I paid high prices hoping to get a better product.

Hi Ryan, our Zinsser MH Ready Patch should not shrink, crack, crater, or sag on normal applications. If a deep crack or larger hole is filled completely with one application, it may sag and crack. If holes are wide and over 1/4" deep, we recommend using two applications to completely fill the void. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

            Works. Price is insane
I don't understand why any outdoor wood patching products are so expensive. This is a very small can. the pic makes it look like a gallon.

Ready Patch has held up for 9 years so far!
I used this patch in 2013 on deteriorated wooden gables on my house. I had to fill in woodpecker holes and a multitude of large cracks. It looked like 30 years of weathering prior to moving into the house. The Ready Patch (with exterior paint applied over it) has held up against the elements and still looks good after 9 years!

Best patch repair I've ever used. Goes on very easy, drys fast and rock hard and yet it's fast and easy sanding. I also use it as a putty to sculpt out curves in regular and even in togh to get to tight spots. Which the easy sanding makes it simple to smooth out those contours in tight areas. As an artist I also use it for texturing entire wall surfaces to create specific themes in Faux finish and incorporate it into Murals as well. In the end; all the different Finishing surface treatments I've used take to it - like a fish to water. Leaving a wonderful overall project. Excellent product would refer it to everyone and I do. Thank you for letting me share, Ozzy

Excellent product, very durable, the only complaint I have is the odor....but it was perfect for my application because it stood up to a light sanding before I sealed it with Kilz. I used to create a textured effect on walls in my RV.

I have used Zinsser’s Ready Patch for many years. I insist on using this product because of its strength and durability. This product has allowed me to do my own repairs when the damage might have required drywall work. This is a particularly great product for my old house renovation. I use it along with fiber-type tape for drywall. Cracks do not comeback. Although, it is not the easiest spackle to use because it tends to be dry once you get the hang of it minimal sanding will be required. Because it tends to be dry I do not use product to skim coat.

I use MH patch for all minor wall , wood and laminate repairs . It dries fast , easy to sand and paint. Make sure to put the lid back on immediately after taking out how much you need from the can otherwise it can dry up the compound if left exposed for a period of time.

              not the best product
After the recommendation of a carpenter online that I respect, I tried this product. The consistency is great, but there are problems. This is the second time I've tried this product. This can, as did the last, rusted inside, raining rust chips into the paste. The can is half a year old and was sealed properly. Also, I do not find that this product is optimal for filling small holes like nail holes. Imo, Crack shot from dap gives superior results. For larger filing, I prefer polyester putty like "bondo all purpose putty". It hardens quickly, so you can apply multiple layers and get them sanded before ready patch is even dry. I will dispose of my rusty ready patch and go by more Crack Shot
