Product Overview
The Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 1 gal. Water-Based Gray Interior/Exterior Primer and Sealer provide excellent adhesion to glossy surfaces, such as tile and enameled trim. Its peel, blister and mildew-resistant water-based formula works in low temperatures, inhibits rust and seals tannin bleed. The primer dries to the touch in 30 minutes and the 1 gal. can covers areas up to 450 sq. ft. For best results, the primer should be reapplied after 1 hour.

Cabinet primer

Does not work on glossy surfaces
I painted 4 large antique pieces of furniture; 2 buffets, a China cabinet, and a sideboard. Three of the antique pieces had a shiny finish, the other was just a stained piece. This primer did not stick to any of it. It is scratching right off with a fingernail. It has been approx four weeks since I painted them with this primer-I thought if I waited a bit it would bond and adhere. Still today I can scratch the primer off with my finger nail. The surfaces were all wiped off and clean prior to applying this primer. I am very disappointed because now I have to strip all 4 pieces of antique furniture which has many applicays, groves, and engravings. This will change the entire design of these pieces and will take me triple the amount of time, not to mention the amount of extra work stripping, scraping, sanding, repriming, then painting. Never again. My business is refinishing, and distressing antique furniture and this has cost me quite a bit of much needed income.

Let's talk through this! Please keep in mind that we do not recommend leaving any primers, including Rust-Oleum Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer exposed without a top coat. Primers are very porous and if not top coated can eventually lead to peeling, chipping, or chalking. The topcoat needs to be applied for the best performance. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

I used Bulls Eye 123 grey primer on some shelving I put above the garage doors. It lays down and covers nicely. There were no foul smells and it dried quickly. I had a fan blowing and it was dry and ready for a second coat in about 30 minutes; it was over 90* though.
I flipped the shelves over after an hour of drying time to paint the other side. The primer felt basically cured at this point and the wood strips I lay the shelves on did not harm the first side at all. Once totally assembled, I slid some very heavy plastic boxes over the shelves; nary a mark was left behind. This stuff is very durable and is amazing stuff!

Excellant Coverage, Easy Application
This is a very good primer for wood and masonry. I used a sprayer to apply the product. It covered very well and had no bleed-through from the masonry or the wood-knots it was applied to.
Great product. I highly recommend this for all applications.

Like many other reviewers of this product, I also have used Zinsser primer for many years because it mixes thoroughly, applies easily, and coverage is very good. Unused product also will last a long time in the can without drying or filming, which reduces waste. My house is clad in cedar siding that is painted gray, so using a gray primer is ideal. You can paint or roll on the primer without runs or drips. The product bonds well to metal and wood surfaces, and accepts paint well. Zinsser primer dries quickly and cleans up with soap and water. It does have an odor, but it’s low and very tolerable.

I was going to buy a different brand but a gentleman told me he recommended this one...he was so right! Great coverage on the furniture and no gross smell!!
