A: Hi Amy, unfortunately we are not able to place custom or special length orders on Homedepot.com. Special orders are placed through the Home Depot store and I would advise that you visit your nearest Home Depot Store and speak to one of our experienced associates at the Special Services desk. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!

A: Hi, I'm happy to answer your question.
Yes, Home depot does cut wood.
How ever they do not offer precision cuts, so the tolerance is 1/2 inch to any and all cuts for the dimensions requested.
Unless other arrangements are made with your local home depot, all cutting requests must be made in store at time of purchase.
The amount of free cuts varys by location, please contact your local home depot for more information on their policy.

A: 2"x3" lumber is actually 1-1/2" x 2-1/2". When bearing weight, especially from overhead I prefer a screw that is at least twice the length as the thickness of the board. So a board with an actual 1-1/2" thickness would require a 3 inch wood screw. ABSOLUTELY go with a wood screw, NOT a drywall screw. The price difference between a drywall screw and a wood screw is so small yet the difference in performance is huge. Drywall screws are relatively brittle compared to wood screws. Anyone who tried to drive a drywall screw into wood and snapped it in half knows what I'm talking about. I use Spax wood screws, this brand is sold at Home Depot. They are a premium wood screw that requires no drilling of pilot holes. They drive into the wood like a hot knife through butter. They cost $8 a box compared to $6.50 for a box of drywall screws. Spax wood screws use a T-Star bit which comes in the box of screws. This type of driver bit does not slip out of the screw head like a Phillips head bit does. I know that is a lot of information but I really like passing this knowledge onto others because it makes the job so much easier and produces great results.

Q:What is the weight in Pounds per each length? (rounding up is ok for estimates such as 3.5 lbs each)
by|Jan 19, 2017

Answer This Question
A: Not exactly sure but having used this product before I would guess 2-3 lbs. per 8foot board. It's kind of hard to estimate just by picking it up because it is 8 foot long and the weight is distributed over a large area.

A: You could, but unless you're fantastically skilled with cutting, sanding and staining/painting, or just plain don't care how it looks, it's probably not going to look so great. Get the better grades of lumber from the specialty aisle or a mill works, don't use framing lumber. This stuff is meant to be hidden away, or used for something where looks don't matter.
