Q:can i use this to apply texture?

Answer This Question

A:  No this is for ceilings that are already textured. You'll just get the regular paint roller texture from this roller. I believe the website has a special section or filter for rollers that apply texture.

A:  You can. I'm assuming you're using a watered down compound mix. You can but it really depends on how watered down your compound is and the look you're going for.

    A:  No.

A:  This roller cover is good for applying paint over already existing texture, but probably won't give you the results you are looking for if used to apply a texture product. Texture products work best if they are troweled on to the surface and then either brushed, troweled or rolled with a specific texture roller (like SKU 430546) to get the desired finish and effect. Thanks,

Q:At the store in hawaii they only have the roller cover for the Extra Texture Deck over paint. And no one knows what to tell you.

A:  I used 4" foam rollers to do the deck railings and uprights. Just the right size to paint 2" x 6" top rails and 2" x 4" upright balustrades (uprights between the support posts). I covered with plastic wrap between painting bouts, came back just fine without drying out. Liked the finish better than a paintbrush and much simpler and quicker.

A:  The manufacturer recommends that you use a nylon/polyester brush to first apply in trouble spots, then use a 1/2in nap roller. The roller you have mentioned above will work. Thanks,

A:  You should use roller covers with 1/4 to 3/8 nap, so this cover is not suitable for applying wallpaper paste.

A:  SKU 112364 - adhesive roller - would be ideal for this job. Thanks.

Q:What is the best nap length for textured ceiling paint

              Answer This Question

A:  For most moderately textured ceilings, a 3/4in nap will work best. It will have enough material to reach varying depths of the surface. A good tip is to apply two coats at right angles to ensure that all sides of the textured surfaces are covered. Thanks.

              by|May 4, 2023

A:  Just find one for "smooth to semi-smooth surfaces" unless it's really rough, but can't imagine a ceiling that rough. This nap is probably too thick, but will work in a pinch. And FYI, this brand is not 100% "shedless". It WILL leave a few fibers in the paint.

                by|Nov 18, 2019

A:  That would depend on the depth of the texture itself, Measure the depth, And then buy a roller with long enough hairs.

                by|Nov 5, 2019

A:  1/2 inch nap is best.

Q:To get best shine what roller do you need to use paint

                  Answer This Question

A:  How shiny or glossy the paint will look on the surface will depend on three things: 1) surface preparation - is the wall clean and sealed/primed? this will keep the paint from being sucked into the wall which will dull the finish as well as take much more paint to cover the surface properly. 2) sheen of paint - from flat to very glossy you will generally have sheens called: matte, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, high-gloss. pick a semi or high gloss paint for maximum sheen, matte is very dull and eggshell and satin are in between. 3) applicator - ideally you would use as short a nap of roller cover as you can for your surface. if the surface is very smooth (like regular drywall), a 1/4in nap roller cover will give you the glossiest finish. longer naps will knock down the finish and cause the paint to look less glossy. Thanks!

A:  Really depends on your paint sheen, but a foam roller(basically something smooth) would make the shine show through.

                    by|Oct 1, 2017

A:  The shine comes from the paint "sheen". Glossy paint looks best when the surface is as smooth as possible. Spraying is the best. Brushing works well, but not for large areas. Foam rollers are good, but slow. What to use depends a lot on what it is you're painting.

A:  I would look more to the type paint. a roller can't make a flat sheen shine. It can be the difference between good looking and bad. Look on the paint label the manufacture usually tells you the best applicator. Most of them have help lines. Surface texture has a lot to do with shine also.
