Q:Is it safe to clean aquarium tank?
    by|Jan 20, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Our All-Purpose Cleanser will do a great job cleaning the glass but try to stay away from the rubber edges that connect the glass, because if it doesn’t get completely rinsed out, it could be harmful. Make sure the tank is rinsed out thoroughly after using this product. We also recommend our Soft Cleanser, as it is a liquid consistency, making it easier to clean the glass.

Q:How do you keep it free flowing? Mine doesn't want to come out of the can.

      Answer This Question

A:  Keep all your powdered cleansers in a dry space. Certain locations that have high moisture or big temperature changes make the powder clump. Our product is still good, but you may have to use a can opener to get at the rest of it. We discourage keeping powder cleansers under the sink in the kitchen, as it is a high moisture area.

A:  I’ve always stored it in a dry location and never had an issue. If it gets damp it will cake.

Q:will this clean stains on cultured marble sinks?

                  Answer This Question

A:  I would not use this cleanser on cultured marble. I have only used this on stainless cookware. There are less abrasive cleansers for cooktops, and other brushed stainless finishes.

A:  We do not recommend using our Bar Keepers Friend All Purpose Cleanser and Polish on Marble; although they might clean the stain, depending on how hard you have to scrub, it might etch or, depending on the resin used in the sink, it might react negatively. We recommend using our Bar Keepers Friend Granite and Stone Trigger Spray. It is PH-balanced to safely clean natural stone. If you can’t find our product, we recommend using a specific Granite, Stone, or Marble cleaner.

Q:Can this be used on a vinyl canopy with tannin stains

                      Answer This Question

A:  To be honest, I doubt that the stains will come out, as vinyl is a soft material, and the stains are probably deeper than they would be on a surface like enamel. But to answer your original question, yes, you could you this product because it shouldn't destroy the structure of the material. The active cleaner is oxalic acid. It isn't a "physical" abrasive like Bon Ami. Good luck with the stains.

A:  On the tannin stains on the vinyl canopy, we suggest Bar Keepers Friend More Spray and Foam for that application to avoid scratching and aid in other soil removal.

A:  I have never used Bar keepers friend on vinyl. It is very mild but is abrasive. If you have a small area that you can test it on even if the test piece isn't part of the canopy. Concern is that it may bleach the color.
