A: Wear a face mask & glasses. Put down a drop cloth on the floor. Remove the cover and vacuum with a crevice tool. Use a small paint brush to loosen the dust around the fan and louvers.
A: If you want to get access to the fan than you have to remove the plastic cover which is very easy to do. This is just a little more difficult then changing the light. For the light you only have to pop off the lens cover but to actually see the fan you have to remove the complete cover.
A: It's easier to just buy a new unit. Check the specs and if you buy the same unit, you can leave the "box" attached and snap in the new motor and wiring assembly.

A: In a half bath with no shower or bath tub not really. In a main bath or bath with a shower I would as you will over time develop a mildew mold problem in the attic. I personally would vent it in either case.

A: If the outside dimensions of your old housing matches EXACTLY the outside dimension of the new unit, it MAY fit in the old housing. No guarantee - as modifications to products happen all the time. Worse case scenario, the entire housing has to be replaced with the completely new unit.
A: Yes, it can, as long as there is a clear pathway for the airflow and duct to the outside.
A: As long as the pathway is unobstructed for the exhaust to vent through to the outside.
A: Yes but you have to uninstall the mounting box and rotate it so the exhaust opening is on the side you want. This is a rather big job as you must disconnect the power via the circuit breaker. Then you take the unit apart which is not difficult. But the enclosure may be nailed or screwed to ceiling joists and these must be removed carefully so you do not damage the enclosure. Once the enclosure is freed just rotate it to match up with your exhaust pipe of flex pipe. Attach the pipe first and then remount the enclosure using screws if the ceiling joists are wood. Then just assemble the unit, turn on power and you are good to go.
A: Yes
A: Very easy but may take two people, one to hold the ladder secure. With a thin blade screw driver or putter knife. Carefully pry the cover off the ceiling. Do this slowly so yo do not damage your ceiling. The cover may come completely off of hang by retainers it doesn't matter as long as you can reach the light bulb. Unscrew the light bulb and replace with new one. Then push the cover back into place so it is snug against the ceiling. This in not a hard job but does require care so you do not scratch your ceiling.
A: Remove lens by squeezing both sides and removing lens tabs from slot in grille. You should then be able to change the bulb.
