    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question regarding the AERN110K ventilation fan unit. This model uses a housing size of 9-1/4" x 10" with a 4" duct size. The installation instructions state the following for a retrofit installation: Enlarge ceiling opening (if necessary) to 9¾” parallel to joist) by 10½” (perpendicular to joist). (Some models have a cut-out template on side of carton or on grille packaging materials.) Please contact our Product Support team with additional installation questions at 800-637-1453 via email from the Contact Us page on our website.

Q:I installed th 80 crm model in a 38sf bathroom, have a reducer from 4 to 3, hard flex pupe w 1 90 deg turn.and it's not sucking air in, also very noisy. Also what is the rotational direction of the fan wheel. Is it the motor?

        Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question regarding the AERN80K ventilation fan. This model requires 4" ducting which should not be reduced to anything smaller. Reducing the duct size will reduce the performance, increase the sound, and can cause premature motor failure. An elbow can be used, but it will add additional static pressure to the duct run and can also increase the sound and decrease the performance. There should be two feet of straight ducting before and after any elbow or bend that is used. We do not believe this is a motor issue at this point, but more of an installation issue. Please contact our Product Support team directly for more assistance at 800-637-1453.

            Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question regarding the AERN110K model. This model is 110 cfm's and designed for rooms 100 square feet or less. This would be suitable for a smaller room and we would recommend having enough make-up air to replace the air it is exhausting. This can be achieved by making sure the door is undercut about an inch or left open to allow the fan to pull fresh air into the room.
