Q:My linen closet is 17" deep, 80" tall, and 62" wide. Can I use the ClosetMaid ShelfTrack system in it? When I visited the ClosetMaid website to design the space, the "Dream Design" wouldn't accept a depth under 24" and height under 84".

Q:I want 60? vertical. Do I need to buy then separately and discard the ones with the package ?

Answer This Question
A: No. The 80 inch vertical tracks come in two 40 inch pieces. You can cut some of the them in half to give you 60 inches of vertical track. There will be a joint, but there is a joint even if you don't cut them. If you don't want to cut them, you will have to buy 60 inch verticals because they don't come in 20 inch pieces.

A: Using a hacksaw they cut easily. And they sell little white plastic tips to go over the ends. Bags of like 25 or 50 something like that. They come with the kits as well.

A: Not that I know of. Buy a cheap pair of bolt cutters, then you can cut the shelves yourself.

A: I don't know if the store will cut them. I cut some of mine with bolt cutters.

A: They sure are. I have bought both a variety of sets and individual components. It's easier to plan when you have done a big project or are just planning to update multiple closets at the same time. That way you can measure everything and figure out how to best use a variety of sets to get the end result you want. I think keep one of the set boxes to keep extra parts in for the next project. I've setup every closet to have two racks for shirts or coats, an upper and lower to maximize the space. By having the kits and individual components sold at HD all compatible, it makes things very easy to match up.

Q:What is the weight each shelf holds?

Answer This Question
A: Depends on several things
-how many brackets per shelf
- how far apart the brackets are
- how are the rails attached to the wall
I haven’t measured it but I would guess that a 4’ shelf with 3 rails attached to studs (16” apart) would easily hold 80-100 pounds
by|Nov 20, 2022
A: You must follow the install instructions.
• System holds up to 1000 lbs.
• All hardware included
• Kit components must be installed per manufacturer's requirements as detailed in the installation manual to comply with the advertised performance specifications

A: Good Morning,
As long as the manufacturer recommended guidelines are followed on the installation the system can hold 44lbs per shelf evenly distributed across the shelf. Thank you for your inquiry.

A: The total load rating for the entire assembly is 1000 pounds. I don't know if all four shelves have the same load limit, but assuming they do, the load limit for each shelf would be approximately 250 pounds. I installed two of these systems plus some extra parts purchased separately in my storage building. It works great. The top rail guarantees that the mounting brackets for each shelf will be at the same level. Just install the top rail in a level position and the rest is easy.

Q:Is this difficult to install on cement or tile? I am considering buying this for my home in another country (Egypt), but the walls in my kitchen, where I want to install this, are both cement (top half) and some type of maybe porcelain tile (bottom half).

A: Hi, for installation in cement or tile you need hammer drill, is very easy with that item.

A: Yes, it is easy to install. I installed in my basement between the drain pipes and the time I spent on it les than 45 minutes.

A: You will most likely need to use tapcon screws to attach these units to the wall - but it should go well, once you learn how to use that type of screw. Good luck!
