Answer This Question
A: DAP All-Purpose 100% Silicone Adhesive Sealant is considered dishwasher safe, however, without knowing the specific type of plastic that you are planning to bond to, it is difficult to guarantee a permanent seal. Prior to applying the sealant, be sure to clean and dry the application area/surfaces to ensure the best conditions for proper adhesion.

Q:Can I use this product to glue a vinyl shoe to its sole?
by|Jun 29, 2016

Answer This Question
A: As the glue remains flexible, I don't think it would work well. I attempted to glue small stones to plastic and while they are "glued" after a fashion, you can simply pull the stone away from the plastic and the glue "stretches" quite a bit (half inch maybe). As the product was recommended for use in an aquarium, even though the product description said that, I didn't think that would be the case.
Maybe that might be good for a sole (the flexibility) but I would worry that if the sole caught on something, the two pieces would pull apart and trip you.

A: As a general rule silicone sealants are not the best choice for bonding vinyl based materials. A better choice would be a specialty solvent based shoe repair adhesive such as Shoe Goo.
