Q:I understand there are two current versions of this utility knife, the DWHT10035 model and the DWHT10035L model. There are differences in the two. Which one is the newer model, and what are the differences, if any, other than the shape of the handle grip, location of the imprinted "DeWalt" logo on the side of the grip handle and the metal "rippling" rows at the end of the knife just behind the blade?

    Answer This Question

A:  Sorry, I have no idea. I looked at all the ones that Home Depot carries, and the 10035, 10035L, look to be the same. Adjustable length of blade, easy blade change, folding unit itself, holds 3 extra blades in the handle. IDK ?? I looked & read about both, IDK. Mine doesn't lock the blade in postion as firm as I would like (when I'm changing blades). Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't..... Other than that..... you can't just "flick" it open like a pocket knife. I almost can, but 95% of time, I have to use 2 hands to open it. But it is easy to open.... just not THAT easy.

Q:I'm left handed, and have found that almost all of this type knife are designed for right handed people. This usually means that the safety lock or some other feature is put where my left hand will hit it. How does this knife compare? Has anyone tried it?

A:  I am also left handed and didn't have a problem with the knife. Seems they only last so long and you have to replace anyway.

A:  The black part of the handle flips up (little hard to figure out the first time). The hinge is near the word "DeWALT". It opens all the way to the back of the handle. Sorry I don't have a pic, it would be worth a 1000 words.

A:  DO NOT REMOVE ANY SCREWS! The blade is changed by pressing and holding down the small black button on the left side near where the blade extends out of the silvet/gray portion of the handle. Hokdibg this button down simply pull the blade straight out of the handle. This button is the same one that locks/releases the exposed blade. To install a new blade just hold the button down and slide the new blade - sharp edge facing away from the button - into the blade slot until the two notches are inside the handle. Finally slide the black thumb guide to fully retract the blade into the handle and correctly position it for use. Then use the knife as you normally would. (FYI - There are 2 extra blades stired in the yellow & black portion of the handle. Lift the butt end of the black portion of the handle - it hinges on the same hinge as the knife folds. The extra blades are in a slot on one side with the black cover open.)
