      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Amirza, Thank you for your question. It depends on the hardness of the acrylic you are trying to cut. If the material is very brittle, than the 10 in. x 84-Tooth Laminate/Aluminum/Plastics Circular Saw Blade is your best choice. To check it out, just search homedepot.com for Product #D1084L. However if it is not, than the Trex blade mentioned above will work. As always, it is best to make a test cut in scrap material first. Hope this helps.

Q:What is the tooth angle on this Trex Blade #D1072CD?

                    Answer This Question

A:  I have 3 of these blades and use them extensively for a wide variety of materials - the 7 1/4", the 10" and the 12" with tooth counts of 44, 72 and 84. I can't find a spec on the tooth angle or throat depth, but when physically examining them, it sure looks like a 0 degree angle on the carbide cutter. Blade kerf is .102" and I use them almost exclusively for all plywood, melamine, MDF and basically everything except long rips in hardwood. The triple-chip cutting faces leave a very smooth kerf. They are, of course, good for Trex and other plastic-based materials, but they excel at chip-free cutting of melamine, formica, veneered ply and other tearout sensitive materials. Especially if you cover the cut-line with masking tape prior to the cut, it comes out as if it is sheared with a razor blade. I do have a couple of higher-tooth count ultra fine finish blades and these produce comparable cuts in hardwoods and other natural materials, but for composites, they can't be beat. Feed speed is a tad slower due to the lack of hook and the shallow tooth throat.
