Q:Could this be used to extend the height of the inlet and outgoing (nipples) on top of a water heater. I know the threads will work and 200F is pleanty of tolerance for temperature but the 75 max psi worries me.

Answer This Question

A:  To extend a water heater nipple connection, an FIP x MIP fitting would be required. The fitting in question is FHT, which is female hose thread and for use on garden hoses primarily.

Q:Would this work to connect my kitchen faucet to a standard garden hose? The faucet aerator is female threaded 3/4in threads so this appears to mate female 3/4in to 3/4 garden hose. Thanks

A:  I don’t think this is what you want. It is 3/4 male pipe thread and female hose threads so it will hook up to the wrong end of the hose if you are taking water from the facet. It might not matter to you.

A:  You are correct. The Everbilt 3/4 in FHT x 3/4 in. FIP Brass Multi Adaptor Fitting will thread into a female ¾” pipe thread and convert it to a male ¾” garden hose thread. That will allow you to install the female end of a garden hose to the adapter.

A:  No, it will not work. The female end of this is made for garden hoses, not faucet aerator threads, which are much finer with more threads per inch. This is made for connecting two garden hoses.

Q:Why doesn't the Santa Fe, NM Store carry more of these fittings in stock? It seems to be a very popular fitting and the web site always says there is some in stock but when one goes to the store there are none in stock! Can't sell it if not in stock!

Q:Can this adapter be used for the indoor bathroom plumbing pipe that attaches to the toilet hose connector? Our house is 70 years old and it seems the pipe connector, (from the wall) is 3/4 in. and too big for the 1/2 in. compressor to valve connector hose. Only two sizes available the 3/8" or 1/2" compressor to valve. We want to be ready in case the hose breaks or get clogged from rusty water pipelines. Looks like the 3/4" could work. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

A:  Thanks all for your reply. Since we live in a house with 70 year old plumbing / pipes, I found that we need a 1/2 in. IPS (Iron Pipe) fitting which is larger than the new 1/2 in connector. I found a local plumbing store to pick up the necessary hose. This is the hose we need: 1/2 in. IPS x 3/8 in. Compression x 20 in. Braided Faucet Supply Connector Thanks again! Learning something new every day!

A:  You would have to know if it is 3/4 female pipe thread or is it female hose adapter thread. My suggestion is to get with the plumbers at Home Depot and devise a plan to adapt it to a modern toilet connector

A:  This fitting is made with garden hose thread which is uncommon inside homes and thus will most likely not work for your situation. We do not carry a single fitting that would convert a 3/4” pipe down to a standard 3/8” compression. Please consult with a plumbing professional for your specific application.

Q:Will this adapt a garden house faucet (on side of a house) to a Sharkbite 3/4 inch Male pipe thread? Description is confusing, mentioning a tapped 1/2 inch. Don't understand this reference.

A:  I used it to connect the male threaded end of a garden hose to a female threaded 3/4 inch PVC pipe adapter. I don't know what Sharkbite is.

A:  Yes it will. However you will have to use a 3/4" coupling to mate up the two 3/4" male pipe threads. That is exactly what I am doing with my adapter.

A:  It will work if you are converting shark bite male thread adapter to push on pipe/led to a hose bib

A:  If the spigot off the house is Male use SKU 829513, if the spigot is Female use SKU 845883. Both convert Garden hose thread to 3/4 FIP to accept 3/4 MIP.
