Answer This Question
A: It should work, but raccoons are smart. Make sure it is well secured so that they can't rip it off the vent.

A: Yes

A: Yes we tacked some to the inside of the attic roof vents so it is not visible from the outside and it keeps squirrels and bird out too.

A: I have used woven hardware cloth to keep raccoons out. They can tear holes in cloth like this that is not woven, if they are really very determined to get in. Expanded metal mesh will also work, Home Depot Internet #204225783. It is bare steel so you will need to paint it.

Q:Once this is cut with snips, can you use a soldering iron to melt the jagged edge to smooth it out?

Answer This Question
A: I hadn't ever thought about it but you might be able to. I don't think you'd be melting the steel but the coating on the steel. I don't think you're going to get a smooth edge but you might be able to round off the worst of the sharp edges.

Q:I want to use this to keep my cat on my balcony. Any suggestions on how to fasten this to cement floor of balcony? A horizontal bar runs along bottom of railing 4 inches above cement floor. I don't want my cat to squeeze under bottom of railing. Balcony is on corner of building, and strong winds whip through corner.

A: Even tho' you described your situation well, I'm not sure I have an accurate picture in my mind so my answer may not be what you need. I would attach this to a 2 X 4 using either staples from a heavy duty staple gun or these: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Grip-Rite-3-4-in-Hot-Dip-Galvanized-Staples-1-lb-Pack-34HGPNS1/100148501 The 2 X 4 would be in the space at the bottom and then you could run the hardware cloth up and using the same staples, attach the cloth to the (assuming) wood railing. You could also use a 1 X 2 and attach the cloth to it and if you have an impact hammer drill, could attach your 1 X 2 to the concrete.
by|Jul 4, 2020
A: Stuff a 2x4 under the bottom railing and fasten it to the railing. shim if necessary for any small gap. The width of the 2x4 should go under no problem. Use wire or zip ties to secure the 2x4 to the bottom railing. Then staple your hardware cloth to the 2x4. Make sure the 2x4 is sitting on it's edge on the concrete. Good luck

A: I used this for a hot house to keep chipmunks out it is galvanized not sure if there will be a problem this item comes in 24 36 and 48 inch rolls if you use you may have to make a top also check web site about galvanize coating
by|Jun 10, 2020
A: It will do the job, but galvanized wire can be rough and abrasive. I'm not sure if that would be a problem for hamster keeping. The sharp cut ends should be covered or hidden to protect you and the hamster.

A: I used the thin packaging wire that they wrapped the hardware cloth in to keep it from unraveling, to sew three 3ft. panels together. Worked great, I just overlapped a couple of squares on each sheet and sewed a loop over two rows of at a time. You can pull the wire real tight because it won't break. My Calico cat's name is Sassy, lol.

Q:can I use this with 5 foot t posts to make a strong garden fence
by|May 4, 2020

Answer This Question
A: Regular Woven wire fencing is fine. This is overkill for rabbits, and not tall enough for deer.
Some wire fencing has a smaller weave at the bottom to stop rabbits, but they'll eventually dig under if you give them the chance.
You probably want 5-1/2 or 6' posts - with braced wooden posts at the corners. Steel T posts will bend.
by|May 7, 2020
A: Yes, I bought 6' posts. I used mine for a border fence. To also keep dogs in. Just keep in mind. The deeper the posts. The sturdier the fence.
by|May 7, 2020
A: Absolutely. My father and I used it with tall metal stakes around blueberry bushes. The stakes are taller than the 4 foot fence
by|May 30, 2020
A: It depends upon what your definition of a strong garden fence is. If you mean strong enough to keep out cats, little dogs (chihuahuas, etc.), chickens, the errant dodge ball, then it's fine. If you want it to keep out a determined 90 lb dog, then I wouldn't count on it. It's not like the dog or a bobcat could rip it apart but could probably fold it up or mash it enough to climb over it. It also depends upon how close together your posts are; the closer together the stronger your fence will be. Part of your issue would be the flexibility of it and if you're going to bury any of it as a raccoon or rabbit could and would dig under it.

Answer This Question
A: The roll weighs approximately 19 lbs.
by|Apr 16, 2020
A: I'm sorry I don't know as I've already used it up but as I recall, it's not much - maybe 5 pounds? Certainly it's not very heavy; just about anybody could carry it. Hope that's of some help.
by|Apr 17, 2020
A: Roughly 15 or so pounds. put one in your cart, go to checkout, in the shipping section it should tell you what the weight is, I think.
by|Apr 17, 2020
A: Contact the store/company for this information. Or, you can wait for someone who just bought a roll to answer your question. Somehow I doubt they will know as well.
