A: A good hose should fit the 3/4'' spout of the rain barrel spigot.
Keep in mind the rain barrel empties with gravity—about 5 to 9 gallons per minute. For questions about installation, email us at info@enviroworld.us

A: Unfortunately I cannot assist you with this question. I hooked it up at a corner downspout by the garage. Than it discharged to my French drain.

A: Gif done unknown reason I was unable to successfully use a hose. The unit is elevated on a stand. I attached two different kind of hides and very little water came out. I collect rain and use a watering can.

A: Under normal and suggested use, against cracking, deterioration or other manufacturing defects the FreeGarden™ RAIN rain barrel is warranted for a period of one (1) year. A: I don't have a stand for mine. I have mine on level ground. The spigot is a little close to the ground without a stand, but it works for me.
by|Apr 21, 2023
A: We agree! The rain barrel works best on a flat, leveled surface. Try using patio or cinder blocks.

A: Yes, I highly recommend a stand or put on cinder blocks... it's gravity based and my watering can fits better underneath with it being raised. Gravity is tricky that way... lol

Q:Can this barrel be used for gutter over flow or does it have to be connected to a downspout.

Answer This Question
A: I bought two of these barrells and placed them under a downspout to collect rainwater for watering flowers. Since the lids are concaved any water rain or a gutter overflow would collect and drain into the barrell however i think placing them under a downspout is what they are really made for. I would definately buy them again. Be sure to place your barrell on a couple of cinder blocks so you can put your watering can or bucket under it so you get even more use out of it.

A: I don't know if the plastic of the rain barrel is food grade, but I wouldn't drink water from it. The water collected is coming off the roof, so there's probably some kind of contamination. In an extreme case, I would boil and strain the water, it might be safe at that point.

Q:If i hook the hose up will the water shoot out like a regulars water hose?

A: No. The water comes out at a steady slow pace because there is no water pressure other than the water itself in the barrel. You just have to plan on filling buckets and then I dump the buckets into the gardens. The water pressure would come from how high up you’ve put your bucket. Mine is only 12 inches off the ground so if I have to lift the hose up 2 feet to get to a garden there’s not gonna be any water pressure. So I fill buckets and then dump them in the Gardens. I do love The cistern it works well I’ve had it for years and I save a ton on water.

A: Not really. It is important to have the barrel on a platform that is at least 2 feet off the ground. How fast the water comes out depends on how much water is in the barrel and how long to hose is. When I used it the water came out slow and took a while to water the garden. I used it more for filling water cans and manually watered the flower pots. It worked fine.

A: No, the water come out very slow.
by|Mar 10, 2022
A: No. The pressure generated by this is not very strong. It can only hold 55 gallon and the tap is at about 1/4 from the bottom.

A: If you connect a hose to the spigot it will flow slowly since it is based on gravity. Do beware, This is a rather cheap resin. Mine cracked in less than a year. Contacted co regarding warranty but they said it was my fault it cracked. Yes, an over 65 yo woman with badly arthritic hands "over tighten" the spigot - right. Have tried multiple times to post my review but just getting an OOPS we're working to resolve issue. Do not believe HD wants too many 1* reviews

A: If the rain barrel is full of water, the pressure can help the water flow like regular running water.
If the water is not clear, the mud or other stuff may block the faucet.
by|Mar 5, 2022
A: No. Not even close. The more you can elevate the tank the more pressure you’ll get l. I have mine on a three foot platform and it’s fine for filling a watering can but I would not use it with a hose.

Q:I am still having issues with the brass spigots producing rusty water. The company has provided solutions that do not make sense. Has anyone else experienced any rusting issues with the brass spigots?

Answer This Question
A: I have not used my barrel long enough to see this issue. I assume a replacement rust free spigot would work in its place.
