Questions and Answers for GE 1.6 cu. ft. Over-the-Range Microwave in Slate, Fingerprint Resistant

A:  Over-the-range microwaves do not require air clearance on the sides. These models are installed between cabinets, and can be installed against a wall. If installed next to a deep cabinet or wall on the hinge side (left side), it requires 1/2" clearance on the hinge side for the door to open. We recommend you review the "Mounting Space" section on pg. 8 of the Installation Instructions: https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/1e/1ede7a66-c33f-4e0f-8183-c918ea1df017.pdf. The power cord is approximately approximately a 40" long (including the plug and base of cord).

A:  Yes, we can confirm that this would make a great replacement for your prior model. They both have similar dimensions, capacities, and features and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. A:  The cooktop lights for this model are 120-volt, 40 watt (max) incandescent bulbs, part number WB25X10030. A:  We do include the charcoal filter kit needed for a non-vented (recirculating venting) installation.

A:  All of our over-the-range style microwaves will fit in a 30" wide opening. We do recommend you use the mounting bracket and hardware that will be included with the new microwave. While we offer several models from which to choose, the JVM3162DJWW is very similar in cubic foot capacity and feature content.

A:  This lovely over-the-range microwave comes from the factory ready to be installed in an internal or recirculating installation. This unit can be converted to vent outside. A:  All our over-the-range style microwaves will fit in a 30" wide opening. While the JVM3160RFSS will fit in the same space, it does not offer the same features as your existing model and offers a smaller oven capacity. Your existing model offers a 1.9 cu. ft. oven capacity, sensor cooking features such as Popcorn, Beverage, Potato, Reheat. Sensor cooking features takes the guesswork out of microwaving. The sensor detects a burst of steam in the food as it cooks and then calculates the remaining amount of time and power level needed to complete the cooking cycle. The JVM3160RFSS offers 1.6 cu. ft. oven capacity and the Popcorn, Beverage, Reheat features are timed. The JVM7195SKSS is closer in capacity and features as your existing model. In all cases, we recommend using the mounting bracket and hardware that will be packaged with the new microwave.

A:  Our over-the-range microwaves come with an attached power cord. We recommend the outlet be placed in the cabinet above the range for easier access.

A:  This lovely microwave is configured for internal (recirculating) venting for those installations where the unit can't be vent outside. The vent openings are on the top of the microwave.

A:  All 30" Over-the-Range Microwaves are approximately the same width and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our current 30" Over-the-Range microwave models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" Over-the-Range microwave model. When replacing an Over-the-Range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts and exhaust adapter should also be used.
