Answer This Question
A: I have pretty low water pressure where I installed this - not sure if it is 20 PSI or not but I am able to use 1/4" irrigation drip line and fittings without a pressure reducer on a separate watering project of mine. It works fine with my low pressure water supply and did not seem to reduce pressure at all upon installation.

Q:Is this suppose to be installed with a water softener?

Answer This Question
A: It is independent of a water softener. If all you need is whole house water filtering then install it by itself. If you need both whole house water filtering AND water softening then install them together. Because both devices go inline with your water source they will most likely be positioned near each other. I needed both whole house filtering and water softening so in my case both were installed at the same time.
