A: Yes, a hammer must be used. There is not a staple gun that fits this type of staple.

A: I used a hammer, and they come loose. The labor involved to put them into some sort of gun properly, I think would offset any benefit.

A: As the nails are already installed is why I bought these staples. It makes it very easy to place over the wire(s) and just secure using a hammer. To use a staple gun the nails will have to be removed. Then if you can find a stapler where the width of the staples matches the width of the nail holes in the plastic cover, the placement of the stapler will have to be exact to match where the holes are. If you can do this I would be very careful to make sure you do not staple through the wire itself. Then again maybe you aren't going to secure electrical wire. I hope this helps.

A: The package label indicates using on 14-2, 12-2 & 10-2 wire. As shown below, they are rated as both S1 & S2.
