Q:I have 4in. of closed cell insulation applied directly to the deck. Metal roof above deck. I have a leak somewhere. Can I use this to test the moisture of the insulation to help find the leak?

Answer This Question
A: Yes, however do keep in mind that if the metal enters the scanning area you will see false positives on the readings. Additionally, there is no mode for insulation so readings will not be calibrated properly for this use. The readings you take will need to be comparative, measure a confirmed dry area of the insulation and compare further readings to those in order to search for the leak.
