Q:I want to completely cover the walls in my great room. the dimensions are 20’ x 35’ x 16’ high. how many boxes will I need?

    Answer This Question

A:  Hello Dragonfly, thank you for your inquiry. Each box contains 32" long pieces of tongue and groove as well as one 8 foot piece each of the chair rail and baseboard. One box will cover approximately 21.33 square feet of wall space (not including the base and chair rail). We recommend calculating the square footage of each wall and subtract the space for any openings such as windows and doorways. For example, if you have a wall that is 20' long and 16' high with no windows or door opening then you would need 320 square feet of material to cover that wall. (20' x 16' = 320 sqft). To cover 320 square feet you would need 15 boxes. This calculation is done for only one wall. Please repeat this process for all walls (subtracting openings) to get your final total. We hope this information is helpful in the completion of your current project.

A:  No they do not, remember this is individual pieces that are mounted one at a time to make the 8ft length, it is not one big panel.

Q:Could the panels be used for a stairwell?

            Answer This Question

A:  Hello George, thank you for your inquiry. This material could be used in an angled stairwell, but modifications would be required to cut the tongue and groove panels with angled tops and bottoms. Cutting these pieces would shorten the overall height of the wainscot package. We hope this information helps in the planning of your current project.

                          A:  6 boxes , each box is 8' in lenght.6 x 8= 48'

                          by|Sep 8, 2020

A:  I am assuming you have calculated both sides of the your hallway and the total distance for both sides is 47 feet. That would take 6 "boxes" which cover 48 lineal feet.

A:  Hi Cherie, thank you for your inquiry. For a 47 foot long hallway, you'll need 6 boxes. However, if each side of the hallways is 47 feet, then you'll need 12 boxes. We hope this helps.

                            by|Jan 21, 2020

A:  47 divided by 8 = 5.87. Since you can't buy .87, add another box, for a total of 6, keeping in mind that this will just cover one side of the 47 feet. If you want to cover both sides of the hall, double this number to 12 boxes, but remember to subtract about 3 feet for each door that opens off the hall. For example, if you have a door into a bathroom and two into the kitchen and a dining room, that's about 9 feet (plus or minus) you're not going to cover with wainscoting. Therefore, you would only order 11 boxes. Remember that you do have a little leeway because of the 5.87. Polyurethaned, this stuff is beautiful. You won't regret buying it.
