A:  Hi,  the rod does match color of fan .  The fan does include a rod .   If you have an unusual mounting situation you may need to purchase a longer rod such as for a slanted ceiling.

A:  We didn't need a downrod, so I can't help you there. But let me tell you this: this is a great ceiling fan. We have been in the process of updating our fans and this is our first three blade and it does more work than any 4 or 5 blade fan we've ever had. It is very responsive to the remote and we use it in a room with a fire place. It is amazing how it circulates the air in turning cold air into warm. It's worth the purchase, even if the downrod doesn't match. But surely it's the same or at least dark brown.

Since we aren't refinishing experts, we recommend following manufacturer's guidelines for your choice of paint or finish. They should be able to give you guidance around how to prep the materials and which paint/finish items to use.

A:  Sanding would definitely be recommended if you want a long term paint job. The finish that comes on the rod and housing is very poor in terms of durability. Mine came scratched and I very easily scratched the down rod during assembly. I doubt that it would very hard at all to remove the finish with some gentle sanding.

A:  Yes the upper joint is a ball and socket that allows some slope but mine seems to be in the lower 10-20 degrees of motion. Check the statistics for the exact angle allowed.
