A: Hello there, while the head is removable it should attach very tightly to the handle and should not come off during use.

A: Hi Dan,
The head is not "permanently" fixed it is machine driven as a slip on version as all Mattocks in the market today are done this way. Yes it can slip but it is a very small percentage if it ever does and would also depend if you are using it as a contractor day in and day out. Thanks
