Its ultra-thick layer of enamel is fire-polished to maintain its deep glossy color, and is also resistant to staining, scratching and chipping. Fireclay is a mixture of clay and minerals, similar to vitreous china, which is molded, glazed and fired at intense temperatures. The smooth, non-porous surface of our fireclay kitchen sinks wont rust fade or discolor. This material is limited to larger and more detailed pieces as it decorates easier due to baking at a lower temperature than vitreous.
