                  A:  We aren't sure it is toxic. We thought it was there intentionally to season the grill. We just built a hot fire in it and it was gone.

                        A:  They say that they’re for another smoking level but that’s ridiculous to me. You’d have to remove the upper grates to access the bottom but there’d be food already on the upper grates! I bet it could be used as a huge charcoal grill if you used the bottom grates to hold the coals.

                          A:  Dear Mikey, The three small grates on the bottom of the barrel can be used as a lower level for smoking. They can also be used as charcoal grates if you would like to use the main chamber to grill. Happy Grilling!

                              A:  I would think so, but we always make the fire in the firebox, brown the meats there, then move it to the larger side to smoke.
