Hard to say. Klien seems to kind of sidestep this question. Klein is a US company. Their website says the majority of their tools are made in the USA but also confirms that some are made overseas. I can find nothing on the meter that specifies Made in the USA. I'm going to guess that if it was actually made in the USA, it would be on the mete.r

The MM400 Multimeter is made in China.

Hello Toolman2 I am thinking that the multimeter is made by the Klein Tool Company. Unable to locate any information on the back of the unit of the actual manufacture of the unit. The only information indicated on the back of the instrument is Intertek which is a global company in inspections, testing, and certification of equipment.

What is the use case where I would want a multimeter that is capable of measuring more than 600V? Would a standard homeowner need more voltage range?

              Answer This Question

The Klein Tools model # MM400 Multimeter is suitable for most general purpose residential and commercial measurement applications.

Don't mean to seem short, but.if you don't know if you need a multimeter that measures over 800 volts, you probably don't need a meter that measures over 800 volts. A homeowner would most likely never need a meter that measures over 800 volts.

This meter is not rated at 1000V for resistance measurements. Below 600V it will measure up to 40 Megaohms. The 100V rating applies to voltage measurements only.
