A:  There is a small piece of plastic, behind the slots, where the plug, plugs into, so children can not stick any objects into the slots. This prevents a child from becoming shocked.

A:  The CAR-15-GFST is not a smart outlet and cannot be controlled from a phone app. Instead recommends the PD-15OUT which can be controlled from the Lutron App with a Caseta Wireless Smart Bridge.

A:  The installation sheet that is uploaded on HD website has all the dimensions of this product. It states that the width is 1.75" or 44.5mm. By code, old construction boxes are 2.75, so you should have plenty of space to install it. I'd run electrical tape around it just in case if you are installing on a metal box.

A:  Lutron does not use aluminum wires on any of our products. All Lutron products use copper wiring. The light coloring of the wires is due to the wire tips being "tinned," giving them an appearance similar to aluminum. A:  Hello Karen. I have several Palladium ( light Gray ) Lutron receptacle products in my kitchen and will be purchasing more as I finish my home. They are lovely and very sleek! Although they are more modern, they seem to go with everything I've done in my kitchen. They will be against a darker silver gray paint that I've put on the walls in my formal living room and dining area. I have already checked them with the one I had left and it's perfect. I just need a bunch more! I was thrilled to find them as I have beautiful and multiple shades of gray in the marble I chose for the kitchen backsplash, up around the kitchen window to the top of the cabinets and around the fireplace. I absolutely love the pieces I chose and highly recommend them. Although they are a good product in themselves the color is why I chose them. A beautiful light shade of gray that made me think of the morning dove outside of my office window. I have several shades of gray but these go with everyone of them. I think you will be quite pleased not only with the color but the look overall. Whoever designed them made them simple and kind of like an understated elegant look to them.
