Q:I only have two wires in my electric box. Can i use this for ceiling fan with lights?
by|Nov 16, 2020

Answer This Question

A:  No, you need (14/3) wire in your box. There may be a Hampton bay receiver you can hide in the canopy of the fan, though

by|Jul 8, 2021

A:  I have three of these in my house, and I don't think I have any special wiring. I think a good electrician would know how to hook it up. There is also an instruction booklet that comes with it, which may help.

by|Nov 16, 2020

A:  The S2-LFSQH requires independent wiring for the light and fan. Lutron would recommend reaching out to a local electrician for additional wiring. For more information on the S2-LFSQH, please visit https://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/0301276B.pdf

Q:Are these sliders smooth gliding or do they have landmarks for each of the different speeds (just wondering the feel of how it operates when using it)?

    Answer This Question

A:  The fan side has three speed positions. The light side is variable.

    by|Sep 1, 2020

A:  Both. The slide light slides and fan slide has 3 landmarks.

      by|Sep 3, 2020

A:  There will be certain stop points for the slider to hold at when selecting a fan speed.

      by|Sep 1, 2020

A:  The Fan control is stepped (4 positions, OFF, LOW, MED, HIGH). The Light control has a snap/step between OFF and DIM, then it's smooth all the way up.

A:  There are clicks for each fan speed. The light is a slider but it has a click for the off position. I have three of these in my home. We love them.

A:  Yes. Just did this last week. Not a problem.

            by|Jul 9, 2020

A:  Yes as long as they are dimmable bulbs

            by|Jun 27, 2021

A:  No I had to get halogen bulbs and I hate it. Thier too hot

              by|Jul 8, 2021

A:  ONLY LED BULBS MARKED "DIMMABLE"... otherwise it will only be a useless strait on & off switch for non-dimmable bulbs.

              by|Jul 8, 2020

A:  The S2-LFSQ is not rated for use with LED bulbs; only incandescent/halogen lighting. Instead, Lutron recommends the MACL-LFQ. This fan/light control is rated for 75W of compatible LEDs. To see which LEDs are compatible, please visit www.lutron.com/ledfinder.

A:  That would be a negative for your LED dimmable light fixture with fan. This switch is analog and only uitable for incandescent lighting. Please find product pix enclosed better suited for your LED/FAN switch requirements. needs

A:  Lutron does not offer an LED compatible Skylark fan/light control. However the Lutron Maestro MACL-LFQ is an LED compatible fan control/light dimmer, and the Diva DVSFSQ-LF is an LED compatible fan control/light switch.

A:  Hi, my issue was figuring out what to search on which took me a while. I found and got the "Lutron Skylark Split Dimmer or Fan Control Knob Replacement(Choose Color: White)" / LUT-SKHALF-2PC-WH-5 and they were $2.95 only but with shipping the total was $14.75 from Kyle Switch Plates / kyleswitchplates.com. After I replaced one later that same year somebody pulled off a second one so it was nice to have a few spares. Mine just snap on/off.

A:  Are you getting all 3 speeds out of fan after installing switch? You must preset the fan speed to hi with the pull chain and always leave it in the high setting. The speeds must be operated only with the fan switch after installation. I always remove the pull chain extensions after installation so no one will reach up and pull these chains. This will cause a improper setting of your fan speed and may cause a hum.

                                            by|Mar 10, 2020

A:  The S2-LFSQ is designed to control a standard 3-speed ceiling fan which only utilizes pull-chains to adjust its speeds. A fan that includes its own remote or wall control typically uses a proprietary control technology and would likely be incompatible with a third-party fan speed control. As always, Lutron would suggest reaching out to your fan manufacturer to verify if this control would be compatible with their fan.
