A:  I think you can purchase a base niche form and install it with the backer board and then tile over it as with the rest of the wall. I don't believe you purchase an already made niche. You can tile a niche with the same tile as the walls or pick a different tile for inside the niche to provide some interest or contrast. Someone suggested we not do a niche (says it is usual a nice design feature, but then it is filled with soaps and shampoos that don't look particularly nice on first view, which made sense to me). It does take more work to tile a niche and my tile guy was more than happy not to have to install one. I did do a column of another tile where a niche might be to break up the large wall of carrara tile a little. I have a rather large ADA shower. Instead of a niche I wanted some corner shelves, but at the time I could not find a white or gray corner shelf to save my life. I finally decided to just cut a tile to produce a corner shelf. It was less expensive and I think looks great (in my case it hides the soaps and shampoos). I intended to color the cut edge that is visible to match my gray (Silverado) grout, but I can't tell much of a difference, so I am going to leave well enough alone.

A:  It’s not a rectified edge, it will be fine but you won’t be able to do a really small grout line if that’s what you want. It’s not advertised as rectified, it says flat edge, which isn’t the same thing.

A:  My tile guy cut the planks in half lengthwise at which point you can either have a bull nose ground by a local tile company or use a Schlueter edge.Of course you can just use standard wooden baseboard also.

A:  I definitely had mine sealed. In fact I had my installer put two coats on it and I'm considering a third. The more you seal it the more it's protected.
