Q:what model do they recommend to replace the discontinued model M3RL 080A AW

Answer This Question

A:  The discontinued furnace you mention is an 80,000 BTU, natural/propane gas, down-flow, forced air unit that operates at 90% efficiency. I would recommend either a Miller CMF95-072 PG which is a 72,000 BTU, natural/propane gas, down-flow, forced air unit that operates at 95% efficiency, or a Miller CMF2 80 PO which is a 75,000 BTU, natural/propane gas, down-flow, forced air unit that operates at 80% efficiency. Home Depot carries both Miller models.

A:  The model number you have indicated is a Nordyne number. Nordyne is the manufacturer of Miller and other brands. When I search for the model number it comes up as a condensing Nordyne furnace. As such I doubt it is that old so one of the first things I would do is make sure its not under warranty. Assuming it is not and I had to buy a new one, I would check with my installer to see if installing a non condensing unit in my mobile home would be possible. If so I might consider that. Condensing Equipment is highly efficient but the condensate has a negative impact on reliability. Although I have a high efficiency heater in my home, I installed it because I wanted it and wanted to learn about it because I am in the industry. I had no misconception that the additional 10% fuel savings was going to justify the additional cost. And I was correct it hasn't and I have had to deal with other issues that I have written off to experience. So again I may consider a less efficient unit, but without looking at the installation in person I can't give you a specific model. Also its not that I don;t like high efficiency condensing product, I do. What I don;t like is when people exaggerate the savings and understate the complexity in an attempt to sell it. That results in good people getting hurt.

    Answer This Question

A:  I am sorry but I am not sure I understand the question. Mobile homes are by nature mobile. Thus one of the key factors that makes equipment equipment mobile home appropriate is that it can be adjusted to accept different fuels, as in the fuels that will be available depending on where the structure is located. So mobile home equipment equipment is adjusted for the fuel in the field.

Q:what is the size of the opening at the bottom of the furnace to adapt ductwork.

        Answer This Question

A:  The furnace has 3 1/2 by 1 1/2 slots for gas pipes and condensate drains , and the opening from the bottom view is 11 5/8.

        by|May 4, 2023

A:  I can confirm that the community answer is correct 11 5/8" x 11 5/8" . Let me add that most of the sales, if not all, are for replacement units, as manufactured homes typically come with a furnace from the factory. With that said the 11 5/8" x 11 5/8" is the opening in the bottom of the furnace. The "cottage base" that the furnace sits on may be slightly different. The cottage base is the transition fitting that goes form the furnace to the duct work that runs under the home.

Q:The mobile home is approximately 1200 square feet. Will this furnace keep it warm?

                  Answer This Question

A:  There is no direct relationship between square footage and the amount of heat you need to install. This makes sense when you think about it. As your trailer will need to have more heat if it is in Alaska than it will if it is in Florida. The manufacturer should have specified the heat load needed for that trailer. So you may want to contact the manufacturer. However I can tell you that I have done heat calculations for many years and have never run into a situation where 1200 square feet of living space, with cieling heights of less than 9' have needed more than 72000 BTU's. So I cant imagine it being inadiquate. Chris 978 651 3301

                    Answer This Question

A:  Part of being a "mobile home" product is that it must be convertible as you don;t know what fuel is going to be available. This furnace comes with the orifices and all the items needed to make it work with either LP or Natural gas.

                      Answer This Question

A:  This furnace requires a down-flow plenum size of 11 5/8 in. X 11 5/8 in. If the plenum for your old furnace is not that size, you will require a new plenum which may also affect the other ducts. Rather than attempt to redesign/reconstruct the exhaust and intake venting of the new furnace, your best bet would be to run the PVC venting through the top as it was designed. Rerouting the intake and exhaust could create an extremely dangerous situation and also void your warranty. I would suggest that you consult an HVAC professional.

A:  I am sorry for the delay. I reached out to the manufacture who indicated they have been pretty consistent over the years and did not anticipate a problem but with out a exact model and serial number of the existing unit they could not say for sure.
