Answer This Question

A:  depends on if it is treated or not. i tried to cut a railroad tie, but the ones in use on the rail lines are treated with creosote and it just made friction burns on the blade and the wood. ruined my blade

A:  Hi MiaM! Great question! With our TORCH Carbide blades, you can expect to get 2-3 cuts from a blade. If you were to step up to our NITRUS TORCH Carbide blades, you would more likely get 5-6 cuts per blade.

A:  It really comes down to an issue of space and accessibility. If you are working on a project and you only have 10" of depth to work with, then of course, the 12" blade is too much and will "bottom out" possibly hitting something you don't want to; whereas the 9" is sufficient to do the job, within the depth limit you're working with. Conversely, if you can't reach what you're trying to get to with 9", then the extra 3" might be necessary. It all really just depends on the application, how much length you have to work with, and how deep you need to go.

A:  I have no idea. You should check the "back end" of the blade you received with your particular brand against this blade.

A:  Not sure what thickness of the material you talking about, but I would use blade with more TPI for cutting metal, this one is definitely not good for sheet metal, maybe it will cut thicker material but they have blades specifically for cutting metal.

Q:Is there a better blade than this one to cut certain types of trees? Has anyone else had trouble with these? I bought a three pack of these blades to work on a citrus tree. I couldn’t get through a 6 inch limb with a brand-new blade. Lots of kicking and smoking. The teeth felt smooth—not sharp! Switching to a chainsaw finished the job in seconds. Really disappointed. Replaced my old Diablo pruning blade based on all the glowing reviews.

A:  Installing a pruning blade in your sawzall will NEVER compete with or replace a chain saw. It's mostly a convenience attachment for light-duty tree pruning. However, where this blade REALLY REALLY shines is cutting tree roots. Any time a chain saw touches dirt or rocks, the chain will dull instantly and the entire chain has to be re-sharpened. Not With the pruning blade - stick it in and around the roots (up to a max of about 2" in diameter) and dirt and whatever and go for it! There's nothing like it. You could never attempt to do that with a chain saw. Eventually the pruning blade will dull, so throw it out and pop in a new one.

A:  I've had no problems with up to 6" cuts on hard, dried wood. (Green wood did cut easier tho!) As the limb gets larger, it will be slower since the efficiency and effectiveness of the blade is being maxxed out. I ended up using my chainsaw too as it was quicker with the larger limbs. Hope this helps but I think you already knew this !!

A:  I have used lots of blades over the years including hole saws both bi metal and carbide teeth blades and there is no question that carbide will outlast steel blades even if there hardened every time. Now the blade you describe sure looks sharp and probaly cuts very well but it will dull before the carbide blades. Diablo also has a line of carbide sawzall blades

Q:Do these throw any sparks when cutting carbon steel? If so, is it heavy or light?

                    Answer This Question

A:  These blades can throw sparks. Like any blade, when contacting metal, especially steel, can produce sparks. My experience has produced few sparks. But friction of metal blades against metal products produces heat in all situations and are always capable of producing sparks.

A:  Sure looks like it to me. I had never heard of a Hackzall so I looked it up and it appears to be a Milwaukee battery powered sawzall. All the sawzall blades I have ever seen have a standard desighn to fit any brand of sawzall. My tool is a Ridgid multi tool that accepts differant attachments one of which is a sawzall attachment. Any sawzall blade fits right in it.
