A:  Hard hat clip.

A:  If by the "nub" you mean the U shaped part of the clip on the cap, it is supposed to be able to clip to the edge of a hard hat. But, it breaks all the time, so kind of a worthless feature.

A:  Best I can tell is that it allows you to grip the barrel better when pulling the cap off the pen.

A:  The nub at the end of the mrarker is for decoration purposes

A:  They made that nub is a hard hat clip. Then you don't have to fumble in your pocket for the marker, it's right there on your hard hat.

A:  style and fashion?

A:  I looked at that too and scratched my head. Best I can figure is to keep it from rolling away if you set it down without the cap.
