Q:Is the light supposed to lock in the extended position? I just got this set and mine doesn't. The top section doesn't lock in place and wants to slide back down into the base.

A: Good Question,
Yes it locks at two positions, the middle and the very top. You may have to fully extend it, that it is probably why it is not locking. Try to really pull it to lock it. To collapse it, I just hold the middle and tap the top .

A: Yes it does. It was a little stiff at first. It only locks when fully extended.
by|May 3, 2021
A: Yes it will “click” and hold itself in the extended position, it does not “lock” as it can be pressed to collapse without any “unlocking”. Possibly try to pull it up harder as it might take a little effort to get the light to pass the holding feature.

A: Did you pull it up thoroughly? You have to hear a clicking sound when it reaches to the top. If it does not lock, exchange it for another one.

A: The Rocket Light has its won on/off mode switch. So you can plug it into a 120v hot circuit and control the light on/off function from the light. Be aware that it will not charge the battery if the light is plugged in.

A: If you have a standard size mail box it most likely won't work. A long extension would be your best bet.

A: It does not detach. However, the legs do fold up and the light pole does retract. Being someone with confined space entry experience. I can see this light working it that type of space.
