A: This saw is better-suited for use in drywall, but in the hands of a very persistent user it might be persuaded to cut through a piece of wood such as a pinewood derby car. The cut would be very rough, though.

A: I have not used used this saw for button board or plaster, but have used it to cut paneling, drywall & wooden rungs on chairs. Also, plastic piping, along with tree branches. Worked great on everything!!!
by|Apr 28, 2017
A: Buttonboard and plaster no problem. PLaster and lath a little more difficult and less precice because of plaster shatter.

A: No, the blade is fixed into the handle for safety. You would probably have to cut many thousands of holes through sheetrock before needing to replace this inexpensive and very effective knife.

Q:I just need to make a small hole (doesn't have to be pretty) so a cord can go through. The description says it's for drywall and plaster so not sure if it will work for 1/4" plywood (backing for a cabinet). Thanks.

Answer This Question
A: The teeth are really designed for plaster wall, but I am sure it will cut a small hole in 1/4" plywood. That said, have you considered using a hole drill bit instead? it will be much easier to make a hole in less time than using this tool.
